POSITION SUMMARY
USA Lacrosse is looking for a paid summer Intern to work with our Strategic Partnerships and Events department.  The Strategic Partnerships & Events Intern gets to work alongside members of our strategic partnerships and events teams to assist with the management and coordination of USA Lacrosse's events logistics and completing a variety of administrative tasks to support our strategic partnerships and advertising team to ensure our partners are receiving return on their investment.     
 
We are looking for an energetic, hands-on, "go-getter" who will approach each day with enthusiasm and respect for the role they are playing to support the top athletes in our sport and in the United States.  If you are looking to gain hands on experience in event planning and sports management and/or partnerships in an administrative and operational capacity, this is an excellent opportunity for you.  You will get to play an integral role in supporting the behind the scenes of what goes into putting on and generating revenue for events for a mission-based organization.  This position will start in June and end in mid-August 2024. 
 
A Typical Day Looks Like…
Strategic Partnerships
  • Provides administrative support to the Strategic Partnerships team, supporting partnership fulfillment and organization, advertising, and retail needs. This includes maintaining documents and files.
  • Attends a Trak (sponsorship management platform) training session and works with the partnership team on updating proof of performance deliverables in Trak to ensure the team is staying on top of deliverables and meeting deadlines.  Escalates anything that is running behind to the SR Account Manager.
  • Pulls photos from Brandfolder from events, print, and digital and attaches files into Trak for proof of performance for our partners.  This will include assisting with the creation of an event and/or sponsor recap deck.
  • Sits in on meetings and sales calls (sponsorships and advertising) to learn and provide assistance with certain aspects of the account management and sales process.
  • Learns Shopify and sells retail at events at our headquarters campus.  This includes restocking the HQ store and maintaining its overall appearance.
  • Supports the USA Lacrosse Shop by monitoring and responding to customer inquiries via email and over the phone.  This may include answering questions about merchandise and processing and tracking returns and/or exchanges.
 
Events
  • Works with Events team to assist with the coordination of all aspects of managing an event (i.e., the USA Lacrosse Experience).
  • Helps manage and communicate with event volunteers, including but not limited to, phone and/or email communication with volunteers, scheduling of volunteers, etc.
  • Manages the Events email inbox and general phone calls/messages.
  • Assists with maintaining inventory of event department supplies, including equipment at the warehouse.
  • Supports events design request submissions; this may include submitting requests and following up for status updates.
  • Oversees event schedules and keeps them updated.  This also includes helping with the management of events on Monday.com.
  • Researches potential vendors and suppliers and assists with event procurement.
  • Coordinates PO's and check requests for events with the Finance team.
  • Coordinates marketing assets and communication schedules for Events.

    •  What did you learn about your field of study and the responsibilities of the department you worked in.   
    • Explain your roles and responsibilities and talk about any project(s) you did.   
    • Reflect on skills and work habits you learned that you will take with you as you start your career.  
    • Reflect on skills and work habits you learned that you will not be taking with you as you start your career.   
 
Is This You…
  • Current college student working toward a Bachelor's degree, preferred degree/field of study would be sport administration/operations and/or event management.   
  • Previous working experience in some capacity preferred.   
  • Intermediate computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft 365 products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.  
  • Enthusiastic go-getter with a “roll up your sleeves” and “get it done” attitude. 
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, follow up/through skills, and the ability to meet deadlines.  
  • Strong communication skills, including interpersonal, verbal and written. 
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.  Must possess a strong “customer first” attitude.     
  • Ability to exercise the appropriate level of discretion and judgement with the capability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary information and materials.   
  • Ability to present a professional persona and presence to build relationships and establish credibility.   
  • Ability to be flexible with your work schedule, including the ability to work some nights and weekends based on event schedules.   
  • Willingness to learn about the sport of lacrosse and appreciate the need to develop and fuel the growth of the sport with diversity, inclusion, and equity in mind.  
  • Ability to align with USA Lacrosse’s Mission, Vision, and Values and Strategic Plan to support our initiatives and organizational goals.  
 
Expected Hours of Work
This position is generally expected to work Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm and occasionally requires longer hours or weekend work as related to events and other business needs.  This position will work from the headquarters office in Sparks, MD between 30 and 40 hours per week.
