POSITION SUMMARY
The Intern, Social Media & Marketing, works closely with the Director, Marketing & Content and the marketing and communications team to grow USA Lacrosse's presence across all social media channels to support marketing and content initiatives. This role will be eligible for college credit.
USA Lacrosse is looking for a talented and enthusiastic student aspiring to enter the social media/digital content industry. This unpaid internship will allow you to learn about sports marketing, social and digital media best practices, and how to collaborate with multiples departments. You will gain professional experience while working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment that will help you be successful in your future career.
A Typical Day Looks Like…
- Assists with social media content ideation, creation, and copywriting on all social platforms (Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and YouTube).
- Assists with real time coverage during local events.
- Assists with engagement across all social platforms to help drive audience growth.
- Researches trends and topics in the sports and entertainment industry to create content to fit within USA Lacrosse’s strategy. This includes offering recommendations for better outcomes.
- Supports the marketing and communications team with campaign idea and execution, website content migration, and data asset management platform content categorizing.
Is This You…
- Actively pursuing a college degree, preferably in marketing, digital media, communications, or related field.
- Ability to dedicate 15 to 30 hours per week from September through December 2025.
- Demonstrated knowledge of visual storytelling, branding, and marketing design.
- Must have a demonstrated understanding of social media platforms, their unique audiences, and how to use them to maximize engagement efforts.
- Passion and enthusiasm for using social media and marketing to reach consumers.
- Ability to follow brand guidelines and work within existing processes while also contributing fresh ideas.
- Willingness to learn about the sport of lacrosse and contribute to its promotion through creative work.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to accept and apply feedback.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and stay organized.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced, dynamic, cross-functional team working toward a common goal.
- Flexibility with your work schedule, including the ability to work nights and weekends based on event needs.
- Must live/go to school within commutable distance from USA Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks, MD.
- Align with USA Lacrosse's Mission, Vision, and Values and Strategic Plan to support our initiatives and organizational goals.
Expected Hours of Work
This internship will begin in September and end in December (before the holiday break). The Intern, Social Media & Marketing will be required to work between 15 and 30 hours per week (hours will vary each week based on USAL event schedule), Monday through Friday with flexible hours from 8:00am to 5:00pm. There will be occasional requirements for longer hours during the week and/or on weekends based on events and other business needs. This is a hybrid position and will work from the headquarters office in Sparks, MD with the flexibility to work from home (remote) as well.
