POSITION SUMMARY
USA Lacrosse is looking for an experienced Director of Finance to lead USA Lacrosse’s accounting and finance functions. This critical role is accountable for the accurate and timely processing of financial statements, including implementation and maintenance of all financial controls and processes to safeguard the organization’s assets. You will continually evaluate and seek opportunities to automate the accounting function to increase the efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness of the Finance department.

We are looking for a detail oriented, strategic, and analytical thinker who can manage the financials for USA Lacrosse, ensuring the necessary safeguards are in place who is always looking for ways to enhance and optimize our processes. This is an exciting time to be working alongside a dedicated and mission-focused team for an up-and-coming sport governing body as we head down the road to the LA28 Olympics.
A Typical Day Looks Like…
Financial Operations & Administration
- Prepares journal entries and supporting schedules and reviews prepared schedules for completeness and accuracy. This includes reconciling balance sheet and income statement accounts monthly.
- Tracks and records capital expenditures, periodically audits assets, and ensures disposals are removed on a timely basis.
- Plans and coordinates the fiscal year-end audit with external audit firm, Audit Sub-committee, and staff.
- Works with Human Resources to ensure accurate reporting of payroll and assists with annual reporting, worker's compensation audit, and retirement account audit.
- Continually evaluates processes and procedures of the Finance department to help implement and enhance processes to ensure and maintain efficiency and effectiveness.
- Develops key performance indicators (KPI's) and analyzes trends, comparing against industry benchmarks.
Leadership & Reporting
- Oversees regulatory reporting and compliance and ensures all state and local taxes have been filed on a timely basis.
- Stays current with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations as they relate to the accounting and finance functions. This includes keeping abreast of current accounting trends and practices and recommends procedural changes at USAL as appropriate.
- Leads in development and analysis of the forecast and budget processes. This includes meeting with department leaders on an ongoing basis to review budget variances and other department analyses to help improve performance.
- Provides financial reporting for the SVP & CFO, the leadership team, and departments as needed.
- Provides clear, consistent leadership and accountability for assigned team members, fostering a results-oriented, collaborative culture where professional development is encouraged. This includes regular performance reviews, coaching, professional support, and performance improvement as needed.
Is This You…
- Minimum of six (6) years accounting experience in all areas, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Strong analytical skills and knowledge of GAAP.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft 365 products, specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience working with a computerized accounting system, prior experience with Salesforce and Sage Intaact a plus.
- Aptitude and willingness to learn new computer programs and software.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, problem solve, and meet required deadlines.
- Exceptional attention to detail and follow up/through skills. This includes the ability to conduct basic research if something does not look right or there is a discrepancy.
- Strong communication skills, including written, verbal, and interpersonal.
- Ability to exercise discretion and understand how to handle confidential information when necessary.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced, "roll up your sleeves" environment to deliver results.

Expected Hours of Work
This position is generally expected to work Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm and occasionally requires longer hours or weekend work as related to events and other business needs. This is a hybrid position and works from the headquarters office in Sparks, MD three (3) days a week with the flexibility to work from home two (2) days a week.
Compensation & Benefits Overview
The total compensation pay range (inclusive of base salary plus annual incentive pay potential) for this position is $110,000 to $126,500, commensurate with experience.

Travel Requirements
Travel may be necessary up to 10% of the time (local, regional). Travel would involve the following mode(s) of travel: car, train, or air. Some out of area and overnight travel may be expected.
