Position Description 
The Sr. Manager of Refereeing Operations will be responsible for contributing to the operational roadmap to support the strategic vision. They will report to the Director of Refereeing Operations & Strategy and work across the department with Refereeing Education & Development, executive leadership, and broader ecosystem stakeholders to carry out key priorities in support of grow develop and support referees within the U.S. ecosystem. They will be a natural leader and relationship builder, with experience scaling programs to achieve specific objectives and driving operational efficiencies within teams. 
  
Primary Responsibilities
  • Act as a contributor to the operational roadmap to support the strategic vision for the USSF Refereeing Department
  • Support the development and drive the implementation of programs directed at growing & developing referees as well as improving the referee work environment (Referee Abuse Prevention initiatives)
  • Serve as the lead contact for our international partners administrative requests and communications: FIFA, Concacaf and relevant other federations. Including direct interaction with VP, Refereeing regarding CONCACAF & FIFA appointments
  • Develop a strong operating model and working relationship between USSF, State Referee Committees, other affiliated members and key ecosystem stakeholder partners.
  • Ensures that US Soccer Refereeing department achieves high quality standards and timely responses in supporting our members and affiliated members
  • Identify, implement and maintain digital tools/resources to enhance referee operations, in cooperation with IT department. Including the Learning Center, Demosphere etc..
  • Responsible to optimize internal operations, working closely with the Product (technology team) on continued ways to streamline and build efficiencies to make the team’s work effective.
  • Oversee the Referee Operations team members (managers & coordinators), supporting professional development of team members
  • Own the operational delivery and logistics of all Refereeing program events, including but not limited to: Annual National Camp, webinars, (regional referee academies, WNT/MNT Referee Q&A’s etc..
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships across US Soccer departments, seeking areas of collaboration in or to  achieve Refereeing’s mission
  • Support the Referee Education and Development team in the annual license certification course implementation.

Minimum Qualifications
  • B.S./B.A. or Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university required
  • 5-7 years of experience working in an operational role; soccer or sports operations preferred, experience as a referee strongly preferred
  • Collaborative and passionate about soccer and refereeing; comprehension of referee landscape is a plus
  • Strong and empathetic leader with proven ability to build high-performing teams
  • Proven problem solver
  • Strong ability to influence key stakeholder partners.
  • Capable of working in fast-paced and demanding environments
  • Ability to deliver high quality work and execute under pressure/deadlines
  • Experience analyzing data, gathering insight and using the data to effectively to improve programs
  • Must be able to connect “micro” details to the “macro” vision and mission
  • Innovative thinker & problem solver who is able to also be accurate and precise in delivery of work
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Proficient experience with Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)
