TRAVEL up to 20%
SALARY $75,000 To $80,000 Annually; depending on experience
U.S. Ski & Snowboard is seeking a motivated and collaborative High Performance Dietitian to join our Sports Nutrition team. This is a full-time, beneficial position eligible for our full benefits package including medical insurance and retirement. SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE
The U.S. Ski & Snowboard High Performance Dietitian provides evidence-based nutrition expertise and education to assigned U.S. Ski & Snowboard Teams as part of the Sports Nutrition team. This professional will develop, deliver, and manage applied performance nutrition services under the direction of the Sr. High Performance Dietetics Manager for assigned USSS elite athletic programs. The High Performance Dietitian must be able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. This position works primarily from the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Center of Excellence in Park City, Utah. Weekend, early morning, or evening work will be required at certain times of the year to deliver services both in Park City and while traveling with the teams.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Athlete Experience
- Develop, deliver, and manage applied sport nutrition services and support for assigned USSS elite athletic programs
- Counsel athletes on daily nutrition for performance and health, periodizing nutrition for goals and training phases, recovery nutrition strategies, body composition and weight management, eating disorders and disordered eating, biomarker monitoring, travel, recovery from illness or injury, and supplement protocols and safety.
- Provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) for clinical and performance-related conditions, including RED-S, disordered eating, nutrient deficiencies, metabolic conditions, gastrointestinal concerns, and bone health issues through collaboration with the multidisciplinary care team.
- Collaborate and coordinate care with the individual’s family, physician, coach, and other health professionals, as appropriate.
- Support athlete nutrition literacy and practical skill development through group presentations, grocery tours, dining hall education, cooking classes, and fueling station education.
- Oversee and progress performance chef services, menu development, and nutrition support for assigned USSS elite athletic programs.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the sports nutrition needs of a variety of winter sports, energy systems, and metabolic processes.
- Serve as a nutrition resource for coaches, teachers, trainers, food service personnel, and parents.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Operational Excellence
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team (sports medicine, athletic development, sport science, etc.) providing applied high-performance services to athletes and coaches.
- Develop resources, education, and policies to foster a world-class training environment.
- Assist with the planning, setup, and execution of fueling stations for athletes across training sites, and at events and/or competitions, providing timely access to performance nutrition, hydration, and recovery options.
- Collaborate with coaches, sport staff, and food service teams to ensure fueling strategies align with training and competition demands to optimize performance outcomes.
- Coordinate domestic and international travel nutrition strategies, including menu development, procurement and transportation of food products, liaison with hotels and venue operators, and coordination of personal chefs and support staff.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance oversight for nutrition and culinary staff, fostering a collaborative and athlete-centered service environment.
- Evaluate nutritional supplements, including herbal supplements, for anti-doping compliance with IOC/IPC, WADA, USADA, and the Olympic and Paralympic Codes, safety, quality, and efficacy; monitors use of appropriate supplementation.
- Document nutrition services provided and evaluate the effectiveness of nutrition strategies towards meeting desired outcomes. Adhere to HIPAA-compliant documentation and recordkeeping standards, including timely and accurate entry of athlete encounters and related data in our electronic medical system.
- Remain current on the leading research globally in sport dietetics and translate the latest scientific evidence into practical, applied sport nutrition recommendations.
- Maintain dietetic registration and continuing education requirements.
- Develop and implement an individualized professional development plan for professional growth and development including participation in professional organizations and activities, workshops, seminars, and development programs.
- Work alongside the USOPC to support strategic initiatives and major international events.
Financial Performance
- Assist with resource allocation and budgets associated with food service operations, fueling initiatives, and nutrition partnerships.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Nutrition, Nutrition Sciences, Exercise Science, or another relevant field.
- Current Registered Dietitian (RD) credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) or RD Eligible or Foreign Equivalent.
- Utah Board of Dietetics and Nutrition Practice licensure (or eligible upon hire).
- Two or more years of full-time experience providing sports nutrition counseling services to elite athletes at the international, national, professional, and/or collegiate level.
- Complete SafeSport, Anti-Doping, and Blood-borne Pathogen training within 30 days of employment.
- Experience working with tools and techniques standard in the field of sports nutrition (e.g., calipers, DXA, refractometer, dietary analysis software, etc.).
- Current Health Care Provider CPR certification or ability to obtain within 60 days.
- Participation in the provision of food service support to elite athletes.
- An ability to travel extensively to execute nutrition support for USSS athletes.
- Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills. Capacity to plan operationally and strategically.
- Active professional liability and malpractice insurance without pending claims.
- Demonstrated alignment with U.S. Ski & Snowboard core values and athlete- centered culture.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Sports Nutrition, Nutrition Sciences, Exercise Science, Food Management, or another relevant field.
- Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) or actively working towards CSSD.
- International Society for the Advancement of Kinanthropometry (ISAK) certification.
- Experience and skill in supporting athletes experiencing disordered eating, eating disorders, Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (REDs), and related performance health concerns.
