Freestyle Sport Development Manager
Reports to Freestyle Sport Director
Classification: Exempt / Full time - Regular
Location: Park City, UT  
Travel: 30 – 50%
Salary: $55k-$60k
 
Objective
Lead, organize, and manage the highest-quality Freestyle sport development program in the US. 
 
Roles and Responsibilities
The Freestyle Sport Development Manager will develop and manage a high-quality domestic program for athletes, coaches, officials, and judges in the United States. This program is intended to educate and train these individuals to develop a stable infrastructure to attract and retain participants in all areas of athletics that support the concept of excellence in sport. This position works closely with the Freestyle Sport Director, team staff, athletes, and other U.S. Ski & Snowboard Departments, in addition to all other major stakeholders within the sport community including; clubs, coaches, parents, resorts, judges, officials, volunteers and other relevant stakeholders.

Athlete Experience
·       In collaboration with the Freestyle Sport Director, the Freestyle Development Manager will design, advance, and deliver a comprehensive development pipeline for the athletes, coaches, and officials. 
·       Work closely with U.S. Ski & Snowboard clubs and regions to build a comprehensive sport development pipeline and build partnership between stakeholders.
·       Develop and implement talent identification programs, including Project Gold, in collaboration with the sport communities. Annually evaluate and adjust talent identification programs to ensure they deliver value to the athletes, parents and sport communities, and are achieving performance goals and progress as identified. 
·       Lead all aspects of development and implementation of various event selection criteria including Jr Worlds, Youth Olympic Games, Freestyle Selection Event, Freestyle NorAms, Freestyle Nationals and Jr. Nationals. 
·       Work closely with Freestyle Sport Director to solve other program related issues as needed. 
 
Operational Excellence
·       Manage the domestic events calendar, in each sport, to ensure an athletically balanced competition calendar that is in-sync domestically and internationally with major events. Manage NorAm coordination including relevant representation on NorAm Committees. 
·       Lead educational projects in conjunction with Sports Science, Education and other educational organizations  that focus on providing coaches and officials with current information. 
·       Manage the operations of the development pipeline including planning and implementation. 
·       Produce specific information distribution for the U.S. Ski & Snowboard website and other content locations to effectively communicate to stakeholders. 
·       Oversee communication and content plans, in coordination with communication and content teams, for development projects and events.
·       Implement the direction of the Freestyle Sport Committee, in conjunction with the Sport Committee Chairpersons, to drive sport development goals and objectives. 
·       Manage development of U.S. Ski & Snowboard rules and policy, and as they apply any connected FIS rules that need to be incorporated. Oversee, manage and operate advancement systems, quotas, rankings, and entries, that are consistent with the development pipelines.  
·       Plan and manage content for the Freestyle Sport Committees and U.S. Ski & Snowboard Congress meetings.
·       In coordination with Freestyle Sport Director, design and develop Coaches Education Certification structure in conjunction with Education.
·       Work with all U.S. Ski & Snowboard departments as needed to ensure a united vision and approach for the development of the freestyle disciplines. 
·       Assist with elite team projects as directed by the Freestyle Sport Director, including:
·       Olympic Winter Games and World Championship support
·       Elite team travel coordination support
·       Ordering and distribution of team uniforms support
 
Financial Performance
·       Manage the domestic development budget.  
·       Management of sport development expenses within each project and/or event. 
·       Collection of revenue related to sport development programming
·       Consistent track of expenses and quarterly reporting with CFO

Physical requirements for the role: 
General physical expectations that allow candidate to access skiers and boarders out in the mountain environment at all times of the year, to work in an office environment using a computer and to travel frequently.  See HR for detailed list.
