ATHLETIC DEVELOPMENT COACH - Freeski/Snowboard
CLASSIFICATION: Year-round; Full-time
FLSA: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Athletic Development Coordinator - Freeski
LOCATION: Park City, Utah
TRAVEL: 10%, subject to growth
TOTAL COMPENSATION: $58,000, 5% annual bonus potential

U.S. Ski & Snowboard is seeking an Athletic Development Coach to work with our Snowboard and
Freeski programs. This is a full-time, beneficial position eligible for our full benefits package including

SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE
The Athletic Development Coach will train, educate, support, and mentor U.S Ski & Snowboard
national team athletes through their preparation and in-season periods. They will be a key member in
the Performance Management Team with the head sport coaches, Athletic Development Coordinator,
and sports medicine staff; co-planning the team schedule; and leading athletic development training
sessions. This role will also be heavily involved with U.S. Ski & Snowboard teams, their staff, and
coordinating with centrally-based national team physical therapists and clinical specialists to support
world-class reconditioning programs. This role will also include supporting our High Performance club
program and sport education system.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Lead and support athletic development coaching, education, testing, and support
for U.S. Ski & Snowboard Teams; including, but not limited to:
a. Movement Skill competency assessment and development.
b. Strength and power development
c. Speed, agility, and change of direction practices
d. Athlete education
e. Testing, analysis, and evidence informed prescription
f. Sport science, innovation, and research
g. Will require in-season and off-season travel
2. Function as a key member of the High Performance Management Team
integrating directly with the sport team personnel, appropriate directors, and
athletics leadership.
3. Function as a key member of the Return to Sport Management Teams,
supporting the AD Coordinator with athletic reconditioning for injured athletes.
4. Be a contributing member of the U.S. Ski & Snowboard High Performance Department
by upholding and enhancing our culture
5. Collaborate with Sport Education Department in the dissemination of educational
content to support coach and athlete development initiatives.
6. Assist with the High Performance Center program to support connection and
information sharing between the NGB and HPC’s, and the delivery of Skills Quest
Fitness assessments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE
1. Valid Driver License
2. A minimum of undergraduate studies in a high performance coaching related discipline, such as physical education, strength and conditioning, sport science, kinesiology, or related subject.
3. Current certification as an NSCA-CSCS, or international equivalent.
4. Excellent competency in making meaningful decisions from physical testing and data
5. 3+ years of applied athletic development experience (coaching) with elite,
developmental, and youth athletes, or fellowship training.6. Belief in the pursuit and championing of continuous improvement, nurturing a culture of safety and open discussion, having fun, and being the solution to cultivate a strong team.
7. Commitment to inspire, train, and educate all U.S. Ski & Snowboard athletes and teams.
8. Love of challenge, collaboration, teamwork, and recognition of team efforts to
achieve results in complex projects, environments, and competitive industries.
9. Excellent interpersonal, intrapersonal, time management, and communication skills and can use or alter them effectively within the changing contexts of the environment.
10. Knowledge of international best practices in athlete and talent development, enhanced if it pertains to the demands of skiing and snowboarding.
11. Experience successfully working with multiple/complex teams and as part of a highly qualified staff. A motivation and drive to make a system-wide impact.
12. Ability to travel frequently for various training events, both nationally and internationally as required.
