Background: The Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) is a player-run international nonprofit organization. There are 6 staff members based at the international headquarters in Appling, Georgia, USA and additional staff members who work remotely. The PDGA, with over 100,000 active members and hundreds of volunteers, is the governing body for the sport of disc golf, and sanctions competitive events for men and women of every skill level from novice to professional. Position Summary: The Senior Director of Membership & Outreach is a strategic leadership role responsible for elevating the PDGA brand, driving member acquisition and retention, and enhancing the overall member experience. This position oversees the Membership Program (managing benefits, partnerships, and merchandise programs), the Club Program, and all marketing initiatives. The ideal candidate is a data-driven, creative leader with a passion for community engagement and global sports development.
Position Responsibilities:
Membership Program Management
- Design and manage membership acquisition and retention strategies
- Design, implement, and manage existing member benefits programs, including partner discounts, merchandise, and exclusive content
- Ensure a high-quality member experience through communications, support, and engagement
Marketing Leadership
- Oversee development and execution of a comprehensive marketing strategy aligned with the PDGA’s mission and growth objectives, in coordination with the Director of Marketing
- Oversee brand management, digital marketing, content creation, public relations, and social media, including reporting on brand performance and presence to organizational leadership
- Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to ensure consistent messaging and branding
Club Program Management
- Oversee the continued development of the Club Program
- Define and implement projects that align with the PDGA Clubs initiative in coordination with the Club Program Director
- Define and track metrics for Club Program performance
Global Outreach
- Represent the PDGA at selected regional, national, and international amateur and professional competitions and industry events
- Work directly with contractors and organizational partners (PDGA Europe, national associations, Paul McBeth Foundation) to grow disc golf and the PDGA’s presence in international markets
- Define and track metrics for global outreach and international programming
Data & Performance
- Own and report on KPIs related to total membership numbers, member acquisition and retention rates, and membership revenue
- Use data analytics to inform decision-making and optimize public relations campaigns
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business Development, Marketing, or related field
- 7+ years of progressive experience in a related field, with at least 3 years in a leadership and management role
- Experience managing membership programs or subscription-based services
- Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills
- Strong understanding of digital marketing, CRM systems, and analytics tools
- Experience in sports, recreation, and/or nonprofit sectors
- Willingness and ability to travel, up to 10% or 26 business days annually, including internationally, re represent the PDGA at premier competitive events
Desired Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in related area of knowledge
- Passion for the sport of disc golf
Other Requirements:
- Successful candidate may be required to work flexible hours and weekends
- Expenses-paid travel is required
- Must be eligible to work in the US and have a valid Driver License for driving within the US
- Must sign and agree to the terms of the PDGA's employee non-disclosure agreement and conflict of interest policy
