The Greensboro Groove Broadcaster provides dynamic, accurate, and engaging live and recorded coverage of Groove basketball games. This role is responsible for delivering play-by-play commentary, analysis, interviews, and multimedia content across television, radio, and digital platforms. The ideal candidate combines strong on-air presence, excellent communication skills, and in-depth knowledge of basketball rules, strategy, and culture to inform and entertain fans.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the setup, operation, and breakdown of broadcast equipment before and after events.
- Deliver live play-by-play commentary during Groove basketball games in a clear, energetic, and professional manner.
- Provide insightful pre-game, halftime, and post-game analysis.
- Accurately describe game action, player performance, statistics, and key moments in real time.
- Conduct on-air interviews with players, coaches, team personnel, and other stakeholders.
- Research teams, players, trends, and statistics to prepare notes and talking points prior to broadcasts.
- Assist with editing, producing, and posting post-game highlights and related digital content as needed.
- Stay current on league developments, including rules, injuries, trades, standings, and storylines.
- Follow broadcast schedules, production cues, timing requirements, and direction from producers.
- Maintain composure, professionalism, and adaptability in a live-broadcast environment.
- Collaborate with production staff, camera crews, and other on-air talent to ensure high-quality broadcasts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting, Journalism, Communications, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in sports broadcasting, reporting, announcing, or media production.
- Strong verbal communication and storytelling skills.
- Extensive knowledge of basketball rules, strategies, terminology, and culture.
- Ability to think quickly, analyze situations, and communicate clearly under live-game pressure.
- Comfortable working evenings, weekends, holidays, and irregular event schedules.
- Confident and professional on camera and/or over live audio.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and deadlines.
