Charlotte Checkers 2025-26 Game Day Operations Staff 
Position Title: Game Day Operations Staff
Location: Charlotte, NC (Home of the Charlotte Checkers); Bojangles Entertainment Complex
Reports To: Game Operations Manager 

The Charlotte Checkers are seeking candidates for the internship position of Game Operations Staff on Charlotte Checkers Game Days. This position offers an inside look at the game day operations of the Charlotte Checkers Hockey Team. 
 
*This is a GAME DAY ONLY. No office hours required.*
**Multiple positions will be filled.**
 
Internship Overview:
This position is designed to assist all members of the ticketing, marketing, and corporate departments, specifically during game days throughout the season. This is an internship position with a focus on in-game presentation and execution. This position will have heavy interaction with the Checkers’ current fan base. 
 
About the Charlotte Checkers:
The Charlotte Checkers are a professional ice hockey team and a proud affiliate of the NHL's Florida Panthers. Based in Charlotte, NC, the Checkers are known for delivering thrilling live sports entertainment and engaging with their passionate fanbase. As one of the premier teams in the American Hockey League (AHL), the Checkers offer a fast-paced, high-energy environment that fosters growth, innovation, and creativity. The Checkers will play a 36-game home schedule during the 2025-26 season, starting in October 2025 and lasting until mid-April 2026. Playoffs can extend the season until late June.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work at least 80% Charlotte Checkers games (Weekdays & Weekends).
• Assist in preparing, executing, and cleaning up game operation activities.
• Supports Charlotte Checkers Marketing staff in all pregame or postgame events as assigned.
• Assists with in-game production and promotional activities, including selecting contestants for on-ice games and in-game promotions, finding Zamboni riders, coordinating with National Anthem performers, monitoring interactive concourse tables, work with group outings, etc.
• Interacts with Charlotte Checkers Hockey Operations staff, Bojangles Coliseum staff, CRVA staff, Charlotte Checkers corporate partners, and guests of Bojangles Coliseum.
• Assisting staff with promotional giveaways and couponing initiatives.
• Assisting the ticket staff with in-arena fan experiences.
• Other duties as assigned.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must be a current student enrolled in a relevant undergraduate or graduate program (e.g., Sports Management, Communications, Marketing, or closely related field).
• Experience in marketing and/or customer service.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, members, and the general public. 
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Positive, energetic attitude with a willingness to learn.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills. 
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
 
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, during events, the noise level may be louder than a typical work environment.
• Flexibility to work long and irregular hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, as assigned.
 
AVAILABILITY:
• Must be able to attend at least 80% Charlotte Checkers Hockey home games at Bojangles Coliseum, with the potential of playoffs lasting until June.
• Please note we are able to work with student schedules given that absences are reported with advance notice.
