A Southeast US Minor League Baseball Team are seeking their next Mascot Performer/Appearance Coordinator.  Being positioned in a major market, the mascot will be making hundreds of appearances during a calendar year and has a high profile in the community.  From home games to various charitable, sponsor, personal, and media appearances.  The preferred candidate will have at least two years of mascot performer experience in a team sport setting with a passion for performing and a strong grasp of the business side of the position, while focus on growing the team's brand.
REPORTS TO: Director of Community Relations

  • Be the lead mascot performer for home games and around 200+ outside appearances in the greater community
  • Develop programs and seek event appearances to grow the mascots positive presence in the community as an extension of the Team's brand
  • Continue existing programs and annual appearances where the mascot's presence is eagerly anticipated
  • Develop and continue revenue-producing mascot opportunities like in-seat visits, holiday deliveries, etc.
  • Develop creative and engaging in-game skits and crowd interactions
  • Manage and produce social media channels at a high level that maintains the character’s brand
  • Process, coordinate, and fulfill appearance requests
  • Manage a part-time assistant to act as the mascot’s handler on game days and back-up performers for appearances, when necessary
  • Maintain mascot costumes, accessories, and props in top condition through regular washing and repairs
  • Maintain the team’s mascot van through regular cleanings and attention to any maintenance that may be required
  • Participate in regular departmental meetings, full staff meetings, and all game day staff meetings
  • Assist with team functions – outside of the mascot suit – as is occasionally necessary
  • Work cooperatively with the Director of Community Relations and VP of Communications for various community and media appearances
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Vice President/COO and General Manager

  • Physical ability to perform in a mascot costume on a regular basis during home games, outside appearances, and video/photo shoots
  •  At least two years of mascot performer experience, preferably in a team sport setting
  • Ability to utilize the Microsoft Office software suite and Outlook calendar to coordinate/fulfill appearances, invoices, and track both revenue and expenses
  • Extremely organized and detail oriented, resourceful, quick learner, and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Self-starter that’s motivated to perform at a high level
  • Licensed and insurable driver able to operate a mini-van to and from appearances
  • Ability to lift up to 25 to 50 pounds regularly
  • Excellent communication skills – in-person, phone, and email
  • Graphic design and/or video editing ability is preferred, but not required
