The Role and What You’ll Do:

We are looking for a Director of Engineering to lead our web and mobile pillar teams in the On Location/IMG Events Technology group. As the front-end lead, you will be responsible for driving the organization forward and bring best practices and patterns, cohesion, unification, and maturation to front-end efforts, approaches, and delivery.

Core Responsibilities Include (But Are Not Limited To):

  • Effectively and actively managing a team of web and mobile engineers

  • Collaborating extensively with product managers, designers, data specialists, and engineers on a day-to-day basis
  •  Overseeing successful implementation, delivery, and technical operation of apps (web and mobile)
  • Helping deliver on key strategic priorities and initiatives (both external and internal)
  • Ongoing management and prioritization of features, tech debt, and defects
  • Helping mature how web and mobile apps are designed, architected, and delivered from a security perspective (i.e., helping activate our shift-left model)

You Have These:

  • Ability to take large, ambiguous problems and requirements, break them down into actionable, manageable, measurable efforts, and establish both project and resource and capacity plans to accomplish them
  • Highly effective communication skills (both written and verbal) with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong ability to serve as a liaison between technical and non-technical teams and stakeholders, and be able to concisely and effectively articulate both functional and non-functional requirements to either group
  • Demonstrated, proven experience delivering, supporting, and operating complex solutions using a variety of front-end tools and technologies, libraries, frameworks, paradigms, and patterns
  • Experience building and deploying performant applications and software that have i18n and l10n factored into the UX and UI
  • Experience successfully building, deploying, and operating mobile apps against both the App Store and Google Play
  • 12-15 years of professional experience, with a large majority of that experience based on actual hands-on skills with application/software development
  • Experience working across the entire SDLC and STLC against some flavor(s) of Agile methodology
  • Leadership capabilities, whether as an effective line manager and/or as a tech lead

We’d Love If You Also Have These:

  • Experience with React, React Native, Next.js
  • Experience with Vercel, Contentful, BrowserStack, GitHub Actions, Figma, Firebase
  • Experience with APIs (designing and building, not just consuming)
  • Experience with ecommerce, ticketing
  • Experience with PWAs (designing, architecting, planning, implementing, building, deploying)
  • Experience working with accessibility requirements
  • Experience working in/with cloud and cloud-native technologies
