About the Position
Job Title: Manual Quality Engineer
Location: Hybrid based in Glenview, IL (Local Candidates Only)
Employment Type: Full-time
Position Overview
We are seeking a Manual Quality Engineer who is responsible for manual testing, user metrics, and performance metrics for our web-based applications. This position will work in close partnership with the Lead Quality Engineer and Internal Development Team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manual testing of front-end including browser compatibility, ADA, and device compatibility testing
- Identify, record, document reproducible steps thoroughly, and track defects to resolution
- Communicate test progress, test results, and quality of application changes
- Proactively identify new tools/processes/approaches and continuously strive to find ways to improve the overall testing strategy
- Ability to design and execute test scenarios for new software features
- Perform regression testing before weekly software releases
- Perform verification testing of fixed defects
- Interact with developers to resolve defects, clarify functionality and resolve usability issues before product release
- Submit, track, and assist with escalation of any product issues found during testing to ensure that they are resolved
- Utilize all required databases for SQA functions and testing
- Weekend on-call schedule
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science preferred
- At least 2 years of experience in front-end manual testing
- Ability to communicate and collaborate with other team members in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment
- Experience with automated testing a plus but not required
- CSS, HTML, JavaScript front-end testing experience
- Sound understanding of the software development and software test life cycle
- Familiar with JIRA or similar Test Management / bug tracking tool
- Understanding of software test methodologies/procedures and the overall product development lifecycle
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to think outside the box
- Interest in sports helpful, but not required
