Position Overview
The Procurement Manager leads strategic sourcing needs of various departments with a focus on the sports and entertainment industry. The Procurement Manager is responsible for driving a wide range of sourcing activity both within and across certain categories, with a primary focus on supporting those departments noted in the responsibilities section below. This position will be counted on to be a key contributor towards improving overall value offerings, controlling budgetary costs, and enhancing contractual service level outcomes with the suppliers of your departments. This role will report and work closely with the Director, Finance towards tracking key performance indicators and the achievement of overall corporate targets and will be supporting the strategic sourcing needs of Tepper Sports & Entertainment (TSE) overall.
 
Primary Responsibilities
  • Manage/support the strategic sourcing activity for TSE departments such as Technology, Engineering & Maintenance, Stadium Operations, and Capital Project Development, in collaboration with key internal customers from each department.
  • Engage continuously with internal customers on their evolving business requirements and facilitate the direction of sourcing strategies in addressing both current and future needs.
  • Mitigate and manage risks associated with suppliers and contracts, including identifying potential risks, developing and implementing risk mitigation strategies, and monitoring their effectiveness.
  • Accountable for research, preparation, issuance, and management of RFPs, including baseline spend analytics, associated negotiations, and evaluation of responses.
  • Integral in the drafting, negotiation, and execution of associated contractual agreements, in collaboration with TSE's legal department and applicable internal customers.
  • Accountable to establish and manage specific service level agreements within supplier contracts and track associated supplier KPIs/obligations.
  • Lead supplier relationship management review sessions seeking to enhance overall operational performance and outcomes.
  • Utilize and maintain proficiency in procurement software and technology platforms, including eProcurement systems (e.g., Coupa, SAP, Oracle), spend analytics tools, and supplier management systems.
  • Establish efficiency in each department's daily supply/service procurement activity, ensuring the accuracy of system's contractual parameters for each supplier.
  • Responsible for establishing an efficient and consistent process for the procurement of goods and services across the TSE enterprise. This process will ensure TSE value maximization by:
    • Driving revenue growth from new sponsorships tied to our capital and operational spend.
    • Procuring the best possible good/service; and
    • Securing the best possible price.
  • Assist with preparation of annual planning process.
  • Participate in other tasks and ad-hoc requests as required, including support for other sourcing activities in other categories on an as-needed basis.
 
Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduate or Postgraduate degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Commerce or a related field
  • Previous education/courses related to negotiations, procurement, or Capital Development is an asset.
  • At least 5 years of experience working in relevant of the areas of procurement to include technology, corporate services, negotiations, and/or sports/entertainment
  • Experience in mitigating and managing procurement and contract risks.
  • Expert understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on Excel.
  • Strong business insights, including deep understanding of procurement, negotiations, financial analytics, supply chain/logistics, and the specific category of business supported.
  • Available to work evenings/weekends if and when required.
  • Must pass pre-employment screens.

  • Strong team orientation with the ability to collaborate with internal and external customers.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, while working under tight deadlines and/or handling multiple priorities. Project management experience demonstrating this is an asset.
  • Effective communication skills (written/verbal).
  • Preference for a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
 
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, walk and stand for extended periods of time throughout the day.
  • Role routinely uses standard office equipment.
 
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment (mostly office environment, outside in a stadium facility at times which may include inclement weather conditions)
