Position Summary
The Manager, Labor & Operations, is responsible for leading the venue’s labor operations and overseeing event operations for private, internal, and major events. This role provides strategic direction for labor planning, resource allocation, and operational execution to ensure exceptional event delivery. The Manager serves as the primary liaison for all labor-related needs, manages vendor and union relationships, and ensures the venue operates at the highest standards of efficiency and guest satisfaction. This position reports to the Director of Live Events & Venue Programming.
 
Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee all aspects of labor planning, scheduling, and deployment for events, ensuring staffing levels align with operational and financial goals.
  • Serve as the primary decision-maker for all labor requests, acting as the central point of contact between internal departments, venue operations, and union representatives.
  • Develop, implement, and optimize weekly labor schedules, balancing efficiency, budget, and operational requirements.
  • Manage and track labor expenses, allocating costs accurately to events and identifying opportunities for cost savings.
  • Oversee venue conversions between events, ensuring timelines, labor resources, and equipment needs are met for a seamless transition.
  • Direct internal equipment utilization and maintain accurate inventory tracking for stadium resources used in event operations.
  • Manage event operations planning in collaboration with the Live Events, Grounds, and Security teams, including field layout, gate setup, crowd flow logistics, and building readiness.
  • Negotiate and maintain positive working relationships with stadium vendors and the labor union to ensure compliance with agreements and smooth event execution.
  • Represent the department in cross-functional meetings, providing strategic input on operational readiness and labor planning.
  • Manage and mentor a Labor and Conversions Supervisor, providing training, guidance, and performance feedback to ensure a high-performing team.
  • Monitor and evaluate event success, identifying opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains.
  • Lead special projects and initiatives assigned by senior leadership.
  • Maintain flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, based on the event schedule.
 
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required or relevant equivalent
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in event operations, labor management, or venue management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to build relationships across departments, negotiate with vendors and labor unions, and manage diverse teams.
  • Excellent organizational, budgeting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license; ability to pass pre-employment screenings.
  • Ability to work flexible, non-traditional hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Forklift certification
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Momentus Elite, and Social Tables
  • Experience working in collaboration with labor unions
  • Experience in an operations position in an arena or stadium with knowledge of event set up and building readiness.
  • Experience working with vendors integral to executing arena or stadium events
  • Bachelor’s degree in Sports and Entertainment Management, Event/Facility Management, or related fields.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the job which include lifting (up to 50 lbs), standing, stooping, and walking for an extended period of time
  • Standing for extended periods of time
  • Sitting and working at desk on a computer
  • Walking through the stadium which may include stairs
  • Ability to work in outdoor stadium environments which may include inclement weather
 
Work Environment
This position operates in a professional office environment and outside in a stadium facility. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc. This position works a minimum of 40 hours per week.
