Position Overview
Charlotte FC is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Video Scout (Independent Contractor) to support First Team recruitment and talent identification initiatives. This is a contract-based, project-oriented role, ideal for individuals early in their scouting careers who are looking to build professional experience within elite football recruitment environments.
In this engagement, the contractor will provide scouting services using video analysis, data, and independent evaluation tools to identify players aligned with the Club’s recruitment philosophy, positional profiles, and long-term objectives.
This role is not an employment position. The selected individual will operate as an independent contractor and will not be eligible for employee benefits.
The ideal contractor will be based in Europe and is to provide services in a full-time capacity.
Scope of Services
The Independent Contractor will provide scouting and analytical services that may include:
- Conducting video-based and, when applicable, live scouting of targeted players
- Evaluating players through video, data platforms, and independent analysis
- Producing written scouting reports and player assessments
- Submitting periodic shortlists of position-specific players aligned with club-defined profiles
- Applying football and tactical knowledge to assess individual player traits
- Supporting recruitment due diligence through independent research and analysis
- Collaborating with Charlotte FC scouting and analytics leadership on defined projects
- Participating in virtual meetings as reasonably required to align on deliverables
The contractor will determine the manner and means by which services are performed, subject to agreed-upon deadlines and deliverable expectations.
Engagement Details
- Classification: Independent Contractor
- Term: Contract-based engagement; duration and scope to be defined in a written agreement
- Compensation: Competitive, project- or time-based compensation aligned with experience and scope of work
- Location: Remote; international (Europe preferred)
- Travel: Travel may be requested by mutual agreement and outlined in the contract
Required Qualifications
Technical:
- Experience using professional scouting platforms such as Wyscout and Opta Pro Hub
- Previous experience (approximately one year preferred) providing scouting or technical analysis services in a professional or semi-professional football environment
- Ability to evaluate players using multiple data and observational inputs
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet agreed-upon deadlines
- Willingness to work flexible hours based on match schedules and scouting needs
Professional & Interpersonal:
- Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus
- Strong written communication skills for report creation and analysis
- Ability to operate independently while collaborating with club stakeholders
- Professional judgment, discretion, and adherence to confidentiality requirements
- Understanding of MLS and the U.S. Soccer ecosystem preferred, but not required
Tools & Equipment
The contractor is responsible for maintaining their own equipment, workspace, internet access, and any non-club-provided tools necessary to perform the services, unless otherwise specified in the contract.
Relationship of the Parties
This engagement does not create an employer-employee relationship, partnership, or joint venture. The Independent Contractor will not be entitled to employee benefits, including but not limited to health insurance, retirement plans, paid leave, or unemployment benefits.
