Position Summary
The First Team Individual Development & Set Pieces Coach is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing individualized development plans (IDPs) for First Team players—particularly young, high-potential talent—while also leading the club’s attacking set-piece strategy. The role ensures that every player receives tailored support aligned with Charlotte FC’s technical philosophy and that set-piece preparation is consistently high to enhance team performance and player value.
 
This position works collaboratively across the Sporting Department, partnering closely with the General Manager, Head Coach, and technical staff to establish continuity from the Pro Pathway into the First Team.
  • Design, implement, and manage individualized development plans (IDPs) for First Team players, with a particular focus on young, High high-potential talent
  • Create age- and position-specific developmental frameworks aligned with Charlotte FC’s technical identity and long-term roster strategy.
  • Lead the club’s offensive and defensive set-piece strategy, including planning, analysis, preparation, and on-field execution.
  • Deliver targeted coaching sessions to support individual player growth and improve technical and tactical understanding.
  • Observe all First Team training sessions and matches to assess player needs, developmental progress, and set-piece performance.
  • Collaborate with the Head Coach, Assistant Coaches, General Manager, and Technical Director to ensure alignment of methodology across the club.
  • Provide ongoing feedback to players through video review, performance analysis, and one-on-one development meetings.
  • Maintain clear documentation and benchmarking for each IDP, tracking progress throughout the season.
  • Integrate data, video, and sports science insights into individualized development plans and set-piece preparation.
  • Support the transition of Crown Legacy and Academy players into the First Team through consistent messaging and individualized preparation.
  • Contribute to internal coaching education to ensure development standards and methodology are understood and applied across the club.
  • Stay current with global best practices in player development, set-piece trends, and MLS competition standards.
  • Engage with external stakeholders—including MLS peers, U.S. Soccer, and professional development networks—to strengthen alignment with broader development frameworks.
 
Qualifications/Experience 
  • USSF A License, or equivalent 
  • Minimum 3 years of coaching at a professional level 
  • Experience of First Team IDP and attacking Set Pieces

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
This position operates in a professional office environment and outside in a stadium facility. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc.  
  • Must be able to work in non-traditional settings, and work non-traditional hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, for certain team training sessions and matches.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. 
  • Ability to remain sitting for up to 6 hours at a desk and computer.
  • Ability to remain standing/walking for up to 6 hours.
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, and endure weather conditions, including rain, wind, high and low temperatures, etc.
