The Security Lead II plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, secure, and professional environment at the Frost Bank Center and all surrounding SS&E properties. This individual ensures compliance with all established security policies and procedures while providing direct supervision, training, and leadership to a team of security officers. They are responsible for controlling access to restricted areas, responding to alarms and emergency situations, and maintaining vigilance in identifying and mitigating potential safety or security risks. This role also supports event readiness, facilitates credential management, and ensures that all operations are conducted in alignment with SS&E’s commitment to safety, integrity, professionalism, and exceptional guest experience. This position serves as the primary on-site security contact during assigned shifts and exercises independent judgment to make timely operational and emergency decisions in the absence of senior leadership. May represent the department in cross-functional safety or operations meetings. This position plays a critical role in enforcing security standards and protecting SS&E’s people, property, and brand reputation. All responsibilities must be performed in compliance with SS&E’s policies, local and federal regulations, and best practices in venue security management.

  

What You’ll Do: 

 

This position supervises one or more full-time and part-time positions and is responsible for coaching, training, development, completing performance evaluations, delegation of duties, and scheduling.

  • Access Control – Monitor and control access to restricted and secured areas (e.g., event level, loading dock, locker rooms). Operate and oversee alarm systems, surveillance cameras, and other security technologies to maintain situational awareness. 
  • Patrols & Emergency Response – Conduct regular interior and exterior patrols of SS&E properties. Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, incidents, and emergencies following Frost Bank Center security protocols. 
  • Operational Readiness – Support the Security Manager in ensuring the facility’s readiness for events and daily operations. Coordinate with internal departments and external agencies to implement emergency and life-safety procedures. 
  • Risk Management & Compliance – Ensure adherence to all SS&E, NBA, and local public safety standards. Identify and report safety or security hazards, assist in risk assessments, and recommend corrective actions. 
  • Documentation & Reporting – Prepare accurate and detailed reports, including incident, accident, and daily activity logs. Maintain chain of custody for evidence and ensure reports comply with confidentiality and regulatory standards. 
  • Communication & Service – Communicate professionally and effectively with guests, employees, vendors, and public safety officials. Provide accurate information and customer-focused assistance in a courteous manner. 
  • Event Coordination – Collaborate with Event Operations, Guest Services, and other departments to plan and execute security measures for all events, ensuring a safe and positive experience for attendees and staff. 
  • Team Oversight – Provide ongoing leadership, mentoring, and direction to security officers. Evaluate staff performance, provide ongoing feedback, and identify professional development opportunities. Ensure consistent performance and accountability among team members. Ensure tasks are completed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with SS&E policies and procedures.
  • Credential Management – Oversee the credentialing process for SS&E employees, contractors, vendors, and guests, ensuring all requests comply with access control policies. 
  • Lost & Found Management – Maintain accurate logs and secure storage for lost and found items. Coordinate with guests and internal departments to ensure the appropriate return of recovered property. 
  • Technology & Systems Oversight – Utilize and troubleshoot security-related technologies, including access control, CCTV, alarm, and visitor management systems. Report system malfunctions promptly for maintenance resolution.
  • Training & Development – Participate in and lead periodic training sessions related to emergency procedures, safety compliance, and customer service expectations for the security team. Documenting new hire training via the Daily Observation Reports (DORs). 
  • Other duties as assigned.

 
Who You Are:   

  • High school diploma or GED; associate’s/bachelor’s in Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, or related field preferred.
  • 3 to 5+ years venue/event security (arena, stadium, large public assembly).
  • 3+ years of experience in security, law enforcement, military, or related protective services field, preferred.
  • 2+ years in a lead/shift or supervisor role.
  • Proven experience managing crowd control, ejections, incident response, and post/roster assignments during live events.
  • Working knowledge of CCTV/VMS, access control/credentialing, magnetometers/wands, and radio communications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Power Point and other relevant computer skills required.
  • Ability to use incident management/reporting software (e.g., 24/7 Software) and complete accurate, objective reports.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with NBA/venue policies: fan code of conduct, prohibited items, bag policy, alcohol controls, trespass/ejection procedures, ADA guest support.
  • Demonstrated shift leadership: briefing/debriefing teams, assigning posts, monitoring performance, giving on-the-spot coaching.
  • Strong de-escalation and conflict-resolution skills; sound judgment on when to elevate to law enforcement or venue leadership.
  • Clear, concise radio discipline and report writing, able to coordinate with NBA Security, EMS, fire, and local agencies.
  • Available for nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and back-to-backs during playoffs/special events.
  • Must meet and maintain SS&E dress and grooming standards reflective of the organization’s brand and professionalism.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to perform prolonged standing and walking during shifts, including in extreme weather conditions.
  • Ability to perform exterior patrols by foot or bicycle as needed.
  • Work is performed in a combination of indoor and outdoor environments, including high-noise or high-traffic areas during events.
  • Requires frequent interaction with guests, vendors, and staff in fast-paced or high-stress situations.
  • May involve exposure to physical hazards or confrontational situations requiring de-escalation skills.
