The Parks & Grounds Associate Part-Time position supports the daily maintenance and care of The Rock at La Cantera campus including parks, landscaped areas, public spaces, and event grounds. This role helps ensure the campus remains clean, safe, and welcoming for visitors, guests, and special events. The Rock at La Cantera campus includes the Victory Capital Performance Center, which is home to the San Antonio Spurs, Frost Plaza, 22-acre Gunn Family Park features the largest dog park in Bexar County, and 400,000 square feet of restaurant, retail, office, and medical spaces.  

 

The ideal candidate enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in maintaining high standards, and is comfortable operating landscaping and maintenance equipment. This position will be part of a team that’s responsible for ensuring all 44 acres of grounds are maintained in alignment with the SS&E brand and Bexar County sister parks to provide a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere for public enjoyment. 

What You’ll Do: 

  • Perform daily grounds maintenance tasks including blowing, trimming, turf care, debris removal, and general cleanup across campus properties. 
  • Complete park opening and closing procedures, including gate checks, restroom inspections, trash removal, and site walkthroughs. 
  • Maintain landscaped areas, artificial turf, dog park areas, walkways, and common spaces to ensure a safe and professional appearance. 
  • Operate landscaping tools and equipment safely, including blowers, trimmers, turf equipment, and utility vehicles. 
  • Perform minor repairs and general upkeep of campus features such as fencing, lighting, signage, benches, and fixtures. 
  • Assist with event setup and breakdown on park grounds as needed. 
  • Monitor park conditions and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly. 
  • Provide friendly and professional interaction with park visitors and guests. 
  • Support inventory and basic material tracking as directed. 
  • Follow all safety procedures and complete required training programs. 
  • Other duties as assigned 
 

Who You Are:

  • Previous experience in groundskeeping, maintenance, or similar outdoor work preferred. 
  • Basic familiarity with irrigation systems is a plus. 
  • Experience operating hand tools and basic landscaping equipment. 
  • Ability to follow instructions and complete assigned tasks independently. 
  • Strong attendance and reliability. 
  • Comfortable working in a public-facing environment. 
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. 
  • Must be comfortable working around dogs. 
  • Valid driver’s license required. 

Physical Requirements  

  • The ability to remain alert, stand, walk, or sit for up to 12 hours. 

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays. 

  • Ability to work outdoors a majority of the time.  

  • Ability to lift and carry items over 50 lbs.
