The Junior Web Developer will support front-end development and day-to-day operations across the Spurs family of brands, including spurs.com, franchise websites, and the Spurs App. This role is responsible for building clean, responsive, and intuitive fan-facing experiences by executing web updates, content management tasks, and platform enhancements under the direction of the Manager, Digital Experience.

 

The Junior Web Developer will collaborate with the Digital Experience team, vendors, and cross-functional partners to troubleshoot issues, implement new features, and maintain content accuracy. In addition, this role contributes to evolving how content is structured for discoverability in AI-powered environments by executing tagging, metadata, and structured data best practices in support of LLM-informed optimization strategies.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Support the design, development, and optimization of spurs.com, affiliated franchise websites, and the Spurs App with a focus on user experience, performance, and quality assurance. 
  • Execute web and app maintenance, including CMS content management, troubleshooting, and technical support requests. 
  • Implement tagging, metadata, and structured data tasks to support discoverability via AI tools and large language models (LLMs), following strategies set by the Manager, Digital Experience. 
  • Contribute to the creation and upkeep of analytics dashboards by providing accurate tagging and structured content inputs. 
  • Assist with feature testing, project documentation, and execution tasks for new web and app enhancements. 

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Digital Media, or a related field; or equivalent work experience/certifications.
  • 2+ years of front-end web development experience designing responsive, web-based applications (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
  • Experience with CMSs (e.g., WordPress or similar) and project management platforms.
  • Familiarity with content tagging, metadata, and structured data markup for web and app content.
  • Exposure to AI-assisted development tools or interest in emerging technologies (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, AI design plugins).
  • Experience using design applications such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or Figma.
  • Ability to document internal processes to improve operational efficiency.
  • Must be able to work occasional flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Travel for league meetings, vendor summits, or road events, as needed.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods up to 8 or more hours.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time at a desk.
  • Lift and carry tech equipment or materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Use hands and fingers to operate equipment and computer systems.
  • Must be able to work in indoor and outdoor areas during events.
  • Tolerate noise, dust, heat, or cold, depending on the area and time of year.
