Lawn Club is an exciting competitive socializing destination in the Seaport, positioning itself as “New York’s Leisure Headquarters.” The massive 25,000 square foot venue features indoor and outdoor rentable gaming lawns, amazing cocktails, and a streamlined menu of tasty bites. Each rentable lawn includes popular lawn games, big-screen TVs, courtside F&B service, and dedicated “Lawncierges.” Lawn Club caters to a variety of audiences, from twenty-somethings to corporate event planners.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Event Captain is a crucial part of our Operations Team - serving as the primary liaison between the client, the Event Sales Team, and the Front of House staff during events. This role demands strong leadership, attention to detail, proactive communication, and the ability to think on your feet and react quickly and calmly to changing circumstances and demands.
You’ll be responsible for ensuring that every event - from setup through breakdown - is executed seamlessly, while delivering an exceptional guest experience. You’ll lead event staff, coordinate logistics, and maintain clear communication across all departments to ensure each event aligns with the client’s vision and Lawn Club’s high standards.
Additionally, you’ll support the operations team by managing reservations, the Lawn Club reservation booking platform, guest inquiries and more.
THE IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE | ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Event Execution
· Lead event operations from setup through breakdown, ensuring all elements are completed on time and as outlined in the Banquet Event Order
· Serve as the point of contact for event hosts on the day of the event, ensuring clear, professional communication
· Assign and supervise event staff roles for setup, service, and breakdown
· Conduct pre-shift briefings to align staff on expectations, timelines, and guest-specific needs
· Collaborate with the culinary team to ensure timely food service
· Monitor event flow and dynamically adjust staffing or service strategy in real time to respond to evolving needs
· Build rapport with the event host beginning with the introduction email, greeting them upon arrival and maintaining communication throughout the event
· Address any client concerns promptly, escalating issues to the appropriate party when necessary
· Track and communicate guest count changes, unmet minimums, or overages to both the client and internal team
· Use event management tools such as SevenRooms and TripleSeat to review client preferences, setup details, and history in advance to personalize service
· Attend weekly BEO meetings to review and prepare for upcoming events
· Cross-check event logistics (menus, floor plans, setup needs) and create execution plans using Lawn Club’s internal Pull List and inventory guides
· Plan, prep, and manage execution of AV, beverage packages, signage, and special setup needs
· Maintain and inventory event-specific items and storage spaces monthly
· Ensure safe, clean, and organized storage of all event-related equipment, reporting any and all breakage or auxiliary needs to management
· Coordinate with Event Coordinator for customized client signage or branding needs
· Identify potential event issues ahead of time and collaborate with relevant teams to resolve them
· Oversee event breakdown and ensure all items are cleaned, returned, and stored properly
· Submit post-event reports documenting successes, challenges, and staffing notes
· Verify final guest counts and billing accuracy in Toast and TripleSeat
· Remove returned or unused beverage items from checks to maintain bar inventory accuracy
· Communicate any unresolved needs or feedback to the Events and Operations Teams
Administrative Support
· Manage all incoming phone calls, emails, and inquiries related to reservations, ensuring timely and professional responses
· Accurately book and manage reservations through Sevenrooms, ensuring all details are entered and updated promptly
· Monitor reservation flow, availability, and guest preferences to maximize booking efficiency and guest satisfaction
· Ensure all data in Sevenrooms and Tripleseat are properly flowing between one another
· Communicate effectively with guests to confirm details, special requests, and group arrangements.
· Follow up with guests as needed post visit, manage guest feedback, and guest recovery
ABOUT YOU! | KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
· Minimum of four years of event management and execution experience in a high-volume hospitality setting
· Proven track record of leading service during complex or high-stakes events (buyouts, VIP groups, activations)
· Genuine love of hospitality and going above and beyond to create special moments for event clients
· Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
· Deep understanding of guest pacing, FOH coordination, and premium service delivery
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Proficiency in MS Office, Toast (or similar), and familiarity with BEOs and service documentation
· Exceptional attention to detail, time management, and team leadership
· Guest-focused mindset with calm problem-solving skills and a solutions-oriented approach
· Ability to lead teams and coordinate across multiple departments in real time
· Comfortable being the final point of accountability for live execution
· Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment
· Flexible availability including nights, weekends, holidays, and special event hours
· Must be passionate, poised under pressure, and committed to delivering best-in-class guest experiences
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Compensation: $33 per hour
