ABOUT PORTLAND FIRE:
Professional women’s basketball is returning to Portland. On September 18, 2024, the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) awarded Portland its 15th franchise, bringing the league back to the city for the first time in over two decades. Owned and operated by the Bhathal family through RAJ Sports, the team will make its official debut in 2026 at the Moda Center. Portland is cementing itself as the epicenter of women’s sports, powered by a passionate fan base and a rich basketball culture. THE ROLE:
The Portland Fire is seeking a Seasonal Part-Time Growth and Retention Coordinator to support fan engagement across the customer journey – from acquisition to retention – through digital channels. 
This role is highly executional, with a focus on website updates, forms, email marketing, and content support. You’ll work closely with teams across ticketing, marketing, and digital to help drive database growth, ticket sales, and fan engagement. 
We’re looking for someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to take the first pass on drafts and projects. 
 
WHAT YOU’LL BE UP TO: 
  • Support the execution of marketing campaigns across web, email, and app channels 
  • Maintain and update website content, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and consistency 
  • Build and manage forms (e.g., lead capture, sweepstakes, etc.) to support marketing initiatives 
  • Draft copy for email, push, and SMS campaigns, taking first pass at messaging 
  • Assist with audience segmentation and campaign setup in CRM tools (Mailchimp, Salesforce Marketing Cloud) 
  • Conduct QA across campaigns (proofreading, link checks, formatting) to ensure a seamless user experience 
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support campaign launches and content updates 
  • Monitor performance of email and web campaigns, flagging insights and opportunities for improvement 
  • Support database growth efforts through digital campaigns, events, and partnerships 
  • Assist in reporting on campaign performance and key metrics 

WHAT IT TAKES: 
  • 1+ years of experience in marketing, digital, or related field (internships included) 
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to draft clear, engaging copy 
  • Experience or familiarity with email platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Salesforce Marketing Cloud) and website/content management systems (Wordpress) 
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment 
  • Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and take first pass on projects 
  • Interest in sports, entertainment, or fan engagement is a plus 
  • Passion for women’s basketball and building community around the Portland Fire  
  • Currently located in Portland, OR or within driving distance.
