PORTLAND THORNS 
Founded in 2012, Portland Thorns FC have set the standard for fan support and on-field success in women’s soccer since its inaugural 2013 season. One of the world’s most supported women’s soccer clubs, Portland has led the league in attendance for eight seasons and set a new club playoff attendance record last year with 25,218 fans supporting Thorns FC in the 2023 semifinal match at Providence Park. Thorns FC have won the NWSL Championship a league-record three times (2013, 2017, 2022) and finished as runners-up in 2018. The club has made the postseason a league-high nine times and has won the NWSL Shield in 2016 and 2021.

THE ROLE:
Street Team Representatives are the Portland Thorns’ on-the-ground brand ambassadors. The Street Team brings matchday energy into Portland and meets fans where they already are. This part-time role supports fan engagement, ticketing initiatives, and community presence through pop-ups, events, and matchday activations. Street Team members help create memorable, welcoming touchpoints that feel authentically Thorns: inclusive, city-rooted, and built on connection.

WHAT YOU’LL BE UP TO:
  • Represent Portland Thorns FC at community events, festivals, pop-ups, and partner activations throughout the Portland metro area.
  • Engage fans and prospective fans through friendly, confident conversation. You’ll answer basic questions, promote upcoming matches, and drive awareness of offers and initiatives.
  • Support execution of Street Team activations including setup/breakdown (tent, signage, games, photo moments, giveaways, etc.).
  • Distribute promotional items/materials and help capture fan interest (e.g., scanning QR codes, collecting opt-ins, sharing ticket links/CTA).
  • Help create high-quality fan moments (photo ops, quick games, themed prompts) that encourage social sharing and positive sentiment.
  • Gather on-the-ground feedback and insights and share learnings with Fan Engagement/Marketing to improve future activations.
  • Maintain a professional, positive, and inclusive presence that aligns with Thorns brand values and community standards.
  • Work scheduled shifts during Portland Thorns home matches and other required team and/or Providence Park events, activities, or functions as required.

WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A THORN:
  • Experience in customer service, events, marketing, promotions, or hospitality (preferred; not required).
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences with warmth, confidence, and professionalism.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work evenings/weekends as dictated by the event calendar.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, public-facing environments; able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/carry event materials (as needed).
  • Passion for women’s sports, soccer, and community-building through sport.
  • Must represent the Portland Thorns and Providence Park in a professional and ethical manner.
