PORTLAND THORNS 
Founded in 2012, Portland Thorns FC have set the standard for fan support and on-field success in women’s soccer since its inaugural 2013 season. One of the world’s most supported women’s soccer clubs, Portland has led the league in attendance for eight seasons and set a new club playoff attendance record last year with 25,218 fans supporting Thorns FC in the 2023 semifinal match at Providence Park. Thorns FC have won the NWSL Championship a league-record three times (2013, 2017, 2022) and finished as runners-up in 2018. The club has made the postseason a league-high nine times and has won the NWSL Shield in 2016 and 2021.

THE ROLE
Promo Crew members are the Portland Thorns’ matchday execution team—bringing in-stadium energy to life through on-field movements, fan activations, and live production support. This part-time role works closely with Game Presentation, Entertainment Talent, and Fan Engagement to ensure matchday elements run smoothly, safely, and on time. From center circle banners and anthem escorts to halftime programming and post-match moments, Promo Crew plays a key role in creating a dynamic, memorable matchday experience. If you thrive in high-energy environments and want to be on the field during live NWSL action, this role puts you at the heart of it.

WHAT YOU’LL BE UP TO:
Matchday & On-Field Execution
  • Execute assigned on-field elements pre-match, halftime, and post-match
  • Assist with Center Circle banner deployment, rehearsals, and breakdown
  • Support Dream Team, Ball Kids, Warm-Up Watchers, Team Greeting, and other activations
  • Participate in rehearsals to ensure precise timing and smooth transitions

Entertainment & Talent Support
  • Greet and escort anthem performers, ASL interpreters, Community Captains, and special guests
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality with talent and VIPs

Game Day Operations
  • Assist with field-level timing and transitions in coordination with Production and Operations
  • Help set and maintain staging areas, props, and equipment
  • Work collaboratively with Operations, Security, and Production teams

Fan Engagement
  • Interact with fans, youth participants, community groups, and partners
  • Represent the Portland Thorns brand with energy, respect, and professionalism


WHAT IT TAKES:
Minimum Qualifications
  • Interest in sports marketing, live events, or fan engagement
  • Availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screenings

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in sports, promotions, live events, or hospitality
  • Familiarity with fast-paced production environments

Skills for Success
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and reliable
  • Positive attitude under pressure
  • Strong communication skills
  • Comfortable taking direction and working independently
  • Able to maintain confidentiality

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Stand and walk for extended periods
  • Lift and carry up to 40 lbs
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Primarily based at Providence Park and on the field during live matches in an active production environment.
