PAYROLL SPECIALIST

Berwyn, PA

(Hybrid/Remote)

 

THE RUNDOWN

Playfly Sports is looking for a Payroll Specialist to join our team in Berwyn, PA office (Remote work is also an option).

 

The Payroll Specialist will oversee all aspects of payroll processing for the company. The main responsibilities of this role include collecting and reviewing employee information and hours, calculating wages, preparing and processing employee payments, and maintaining accurate payroll records within the payroll system.

 

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

· Maintain and review payroll processing system to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions for multiple company profiles

· Document processes and implement process improvements and efficiencies as needed

· Routinely check accuracy of pay, tax and deduction data in HRIS system, make corrections and improvements to ensure data integrity

· Prepare and submit bi-weekly payroll for multiple pay groups as well as off-cycle payrolls using UKG

· Maintain system for organizing payroll data, changes, updates and employee information for payroll cycles

· Maintain the general ledger report and record payroll in the accounting system

· Researches and resolve payroll/tax reporting issues

· Assist in ad hoc projects such as documenting workflows, registering for withholding and unemployment accounts in new states, 401K and agency audits

· Act as main point of contact for all payroll-related questions and issue resolution.

· Assist with more complex items that require extensive payroll knowledge such as taxation, yearend reporting, compliance with federal, state and local regulations and guidelines

· Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential

· Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments (HR, Legal, Operations)

· Oversee and support Leave of Absence (LOA) payments and state-leave compliance in support of Total Rewards Manager

· Other job-related duties as assigned

 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or the equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience

· 4-6 years of experience working in payroll

· FPC or CPP certification preferred

· Broad knowledge of payroll principles, practices, processes and procedures

· Knowledge of laws and regulations that affect payroll

· Experience working in UKG or similar HRIS system preferred

· Experience working in NetSuite or similar system preferred

· Strong knowledge of payroll taxes and W2/W2c processing and the garnishment review and processing

· Solid understanding of multi-state and federal payroll and employment laws

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Excellent analytical, organizational, decision-making, problem-solving, team-building, and time management skills

· Ability to prioritize tasks and work on multiple assignments concurrently

 

TRAVEL, LIFTING, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

· This role is primarily sedentary and takes place in a quiet office-setting

· Minimal travel required for company-wide events
