Legal: General Counsel/Contractual Law
Purpose: To provide legal advice in all matters with respect to business initiatives pursued by OneTeam. This position supports a broad range of general commercial matters and business operations, but with an emphasis on our entertainment and media operations.  A proactive, solution-oriented and collaborative approach, attention to detail and superior analytical skills are essential.  Significant transactional experience is a must.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Draft and negotiate agreements for entertainment and media transactions, including strategic partnerships, production, distribution, financing, and licensing agreements
  • Support corporate transactions (including mergers and acquisitions) in the film, television and media industries
  • Manage all aspects of legal clearances, as well as advise marketing and creative personnel (including content creation and production)
  • Negotiate production, talent and related contract terms
  • Support the development, production and exploitation of original programming
  • Support OneTeam’s retail, product, and promotional licenses, as well as event-related (e.g., venue, hotel, event management, agency) agreements
  • Assist in managing transaction flow, as well as forms database
  • Assist in developing strategies, including by providing legal value-add related to business opportunity
  • Operate trademark, music, brand protection and rights enforcement programs
  • Assist with special projects for management, including with respect to Board meetings
  • Attend and represent OneTeam at various meetings, as requested
  • Remain informed about current legislation in connection with OneTeam business (e.g., rights of publicity)
  • Other duties as assigned
 
Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor degree with excellent academic credentials
  • Background at a large law firm, recognized entertainment boutique and/or in-house experience at a media company
  • Good standing with the bar association in the jurisdiction admitted
  • 5-7 years of transactional experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Effective research skills
  • Knowledge and experience in media, entertainment, copyright and licensing. 
  • Knowledge of and experience with unions such as SAG/AFTRA
  • Ability to work independently, but with a firmly held view in success as a team
  • Strong critical thinking, interpersonal, public speaking skills
  • Prior experience supporting a heavy volume of commercial transactions in a fast-paced environment
  • Adaptability and attention to detail
  • Strong time management and organizational qualifications
  • Professional “can-do” attitude and strong personal ethics
  • Proactive and solution-oriented approach to resolving issues
