About OneTeam Partners: Formed in November 2019, OneTeam Partners is a joint venture between the NFL Players Association (NFLPA), MLB Players Association (MLBPA), HPS Investment Partners, General Atlantic and Morgan Stanley Tactical Value that helps athletes maximize the value of their name, image, and likeness rights by transforming the way in which they interact with businesses across four verticals: group licensing, athlete marketing, content creation and venture investing. 

OneTeam Partners represents a range of commercial business interests on behalf of the NFLPA, MLBPA, MLSPA, U.S. Women's National Team Players Association, Women's National Basketball Players Association, U.S. Rugby Players Association, National Women’s Soccer League, and League of Legends Championship Series Players Association, alongside thousands of college athletes. 

About the Role: OneTeam Partners is seeking a Senior Director of Business Development to grow its games business on behalf of our athletes and Players’ Association partners. The ideal candidate will have strong strategic instincts, an entrepreneurial mindset and a passion for sports, games and new technologies – with a background in games licensing, digital business development, or platform relations.

Primary duties and responsibilities include:  
  • Develop and execute OneTeam’s games business development strategy, identifying new business opportunities on behalf of our athletes and partner PAs. 
  • Source, negotiate and close new games partnerships, expanding OneTeam’s industry-leading games portfolio. 
  • Partner with the SVP, Games, Experiences and Digital on major games license renewals.
  • Build and analyze business models to evaluate opportunities, staying abreast of market benchmarks and best practices in games licensing. 
  • Establish strong relationships with best-in-class games publishers.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, identifying new areas of opportunity for OneTeam within the global games ecosystem, and communicating OneTeam’s unique offering for prospective partners.
  • Partner with OneTeam’s Finance and PA Partnerships teams to lead on strategic planning, budgeting and long-range planning for games new business. 
  • Work with OneTeam’s Legal team to execute licensing agreements and other partnership arrangements. 

Desired Skills and Experience
  • 10+ years experience in the sports, entertainment or games industries.  
  • Extensive track record of sourcing, negotiating and executing high-value commercial deals.
  • Strong games industry knowledge – robust understanding of market landscape, areas of opportunity/risk for IP owners, as well as deal benchmarks.
  • Knowledge and curiosity in the wider digital/technology landscape – enthusiasm and interest in unlocking new areas of opportunity for IP owners. 
  • A true self-starter and hustler, with an entrepreneurial mindset and proven ability to formulate and deliver against new business growth initiatives.
  • A genuine passion for sports and games. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented, resilient, organized and scrappy.
