Sponsorship Sales & Activation: Consumer Product Sales
The Manager, Business Development (Consumer Products Licensing) is responsible for developing new business across OneTeam’s Consumer Products Licensing team, with an emphasis on sourcing, negotiating, and closing new licensing deals on behalf of properties represented by OneTeam.  Consumer Products covers apparel, hardlines, trading cards and unconventional product categories. Properties currently represented by OneTeam for these categories are the LCSPA, MLSPA, NWSLPA, USWNTPA, USA Triathlon and WNBPA.

Primary duties and responsibilities include: 
  • Research, evaluate, and develop a robust pipeline of highly qualified prospective licensees.
  • Nurture prospect relationships with a goal of advancing conversations to the negotiation stage and ultimately closing new licensing deals.
  • Oversee ongoing use of OneTeam’s CRM database (currently Salesforce) and report on key new business development and pipeline metrics – both internally and with property partners.  
  • Lead licensee prospect due diligence including financial background and past performance under other licenses.
  • Oversee ongoing development of category map that guides how to most efficiently deploy efforts across each property. 
  • Research and identify new or underdeveloped Consumer Products categories that offer revenue growth potential.
  • Represent OneTeam and its respective client properties at industry events (e.g., Licensing Show, Sports Work with Creative Strategy & Marketing team to develop collateral in support of ongoing business development efforts (e.g. sizzle reels, property overviews, etc.).
  • Interface with property partners regularly.  This includes communicating new business development pipeline updates on regularly scheduled calls.  
  • Work closely with PR and Social Media teams to ensure that new licensing deals and/or product launches tied to new deals are being publicly announced to target audiences (e.g., License Global, Licensing Letter, Licensing International).
  • Assist in drafting company-wide OKRs each quarter, update and lead the execution against relevant new business development OKRs.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • A minimum of three years prior experience in licensing, sales and/or business development
  • Prior experience in sports licensing a plus, but not a requirement
  • Strong communication skills in verbal and written format – strong public speaker a plus.
  • Solution-oriented, can-do mentality, that thinks creatively to overcome objections from prospects to identify winning outcomes for all involved parties
  • Self-starter capable of regularly identifying new leads and advancing prospects through a pipeline of their creation
  • Ability to learn, adapt, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  •  Passion for sports, with an emphasis on being passionate about changing the landscape for officially licensed products featuring women’s athletes
  • Advocate for athletes writ large as well as knowledgeable about athletes across MLS, NWSL, WNBA and USWNT
