Position Summary

The New Orleans Pelicans are seeking positive, dependable, and enthusiastic Mascot Handlers to support the team mascot and enhance the overall fan experience during games and events. Under general direction and supervision, this role is responsible for assisting with mascot appearances, preparation, and in-game execution. This is a part-time, seasonal position that requires late nights, weekends, and open availability for all New Orleans Pelicans home games and select events.

 

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Assist with preparation, movement, and execution of mascot appearances during games and events
  • Support the mascot performer with crowd interactions, skits, contests, and promotional elements
  • Help manage mascot costume changes, props, and equipment before, during, and after games
  • Serve as an enthusiastic brand ambassador for the organization in and out of the arena
  • Assist with in-game fan engagement elements involving the mascot during pre-game, halftime, and game breaks
  • Coordinate with Game Experience staff, production crew, and arena personnel to ensure smooth mascot operations
  • Escort and support the mascot during concourse walks, fan photos, and special activations
  • Maintain awareness of crowd safety and mascot visibility at all times

  • Ability to work the majority of scheduled Pelicans home games, potential playoff games, rehearsals, and select special events (view the Pelicans NBA schedule here)
  • Willingness to take direction and work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Ability to work well with mascot performers, Game Experience staff, camera operators, hosts, VIPs, and arena personnel
  • Ability to remain on your feet for the duration of your shift
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs
  • Reliable transportation for all scheduled games and community appearances 
  • Comfortable working around large crowds and high-energy environments
