Sponsorship Sales & Activation: Corporate Sponsorship Sales Department Management




Notre Dame Athletics selected the team of industry leaders Legends and JMI Sports to manage their multimedia commercial rights. This new partnership will provide unsurpassed ingenuity and service to deliver integrated national and regional corporate partnerships worthy of the Notre Dame brand.


The Property President will be responsible for overseeing, organizing, planning, directing, and executing the multimedia rights, hospitality and premium sales efforts associated with the University of Notre Dame. The Property President will be responsible for recruiting, training, developing, and providing day-to-day support for the property, while demonstrating an ability to navigate the campus structure and work with the entire University community.


  • Provide executive leadership and daily management of the property and the team members
  • Appropriately manage key relationships with partners within Notre Dame Athletics and the University
  • Develop and lead sales and activation efforts for sponsorships, hospitality and premium seating within guidelines established by the University of Notre Dame
  • Collaborate with Athletics and University executive teams on development of effective business strategies
  • Conceptualize and create new media opportunities that generate significant revenue streams
  • Create financial analysis of sponsorship deals detailing gross fee, activation costs and net sponsorship
  • Cultivate relationships with top brand decision makers and their advertising agencies to affect influence
  • Negotiate and close sponsorship deals and work with legal counsel through contract execution
  • Coordinate with JMI Sports and Legends national and regional sales teams to maximize efficiency and effectiveness of sales process
  • Collaborate with the Legends and JMI leadership team to identify and incorporate industry best practices when identifying new and traditional partnership elements
  • Develop opportunities to cross-sell partners and to understand and establish marketing policies and strategies
  • Track sales, inventory and prepare reports based on analysis of financial data and market research, while overseeing budgetary reports and updates accordingly
  • Maintain proper sales and prospect reporting procedures and databases
  • Administer game day and event day duties
  • Perform other functions and activities as directed by Legends and JMI Sports executive team

  • 10+ years senior-level, successful and creative sponsorship sales experience
  • Key relationships with senior level marketing executives with national/regional brands
  • Knowledge of collegiate and/or professional sports marketing and new media platforms
  • Understanding of sponsorship sales, event marketing and activation
  • Understanding of media/advertising buys
  • Experience in managing sales of bundled assets
  • Demonstrated experience with technology integration
  • Excellence in pitching, negotiating and closing six and seven figure sponsorship deals
  • Ability to communicate value of sponsorship vs. pure media as a marketing solution
  • Ability to develop creative proposals that meet and exceed potential partners’ needs
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships at all levels within the university
  • Ability to recruit, manage, motivate and retain top-notch talent in all areas
  • Ability to develop strong peer level relationships and work in a team environment
  • Ability to simultaneously manage details at a high level across multiple projects
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software
  • Graduate degree in business, marketing, or related field preferred
