THE VENUE

Legends is the official hospitality partner for the food service areas at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, a premier tourism destination in the heart of New York City. The partnership includes full quick service restaurant, an outdoor seasonal kiosk serving beverage and snacks and a lighter fare concept aboard the ship serving sandwiches and flat breads along with grab and go items. With the opportunity of serving up to 10,000 guests 363 days a year, Legends has created a culture of fast and friendly service at the Intrepid.

 

THE ROLE   

The Concessions Cashier is responsible for providing quick, friendly and efficient service to the museum visitors and their internal guests.  The Concessions Cashier position entails a variety of duties relating to fast food-style service including buffet attendant service. These duties include cashiering, hot and cold beverage service, cold food preparation, concession snack item service, stocking of refrigerators and shelves, buffet set up and maintenance for events and cleanliness and sanitation duties of the work area and dining space.

  • Relays relevant comments received from customers directly to supervisor
  • Maintains a professional attitude and appearance
  • Complies with sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness and maintenance of kitchen and/or serving areas
  • Greets customers and takes their orders by entering in POS system, computes and collects method of payment
  • Checks orders to ensure that guest is receiving a complete and correct order
  • Collects payment from guest and makes change
  • Conforms to the regulations of the alcohol beverage authority
  • Prepare coffee, cappuccino and espresso to order
  • Organize and package prepared foods and deliver to guests at their table
  • Set up food stations and condiment stations for special concession events
  • Provide friendly service from buffets during events and maintaining cleanliness of work areas
  • Responsible for organization and restocking of beverages and snacks in work area
  • Responsible to maintain dining area cleanliness throughout shift, wiping down tables, sweeping and mopping at conclusion of shift.

 

 QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must be able to perform simple mathematical calculations
  • Food and Beverage experience a plus
  • Able to work flexible hours (days, evenings, weekends, holidays)
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills
  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • Team Player
  • NY Food Safety Certification a plus
  • Practice safe work habits, follow all safety policies and procedures and regulations, complete company-wide safety training and additional job specific safety training

 

COMPENSATION 

$16.00/Hourly

Job Type: Part Time/Seasonal

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands, and handle controls. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms.
