Nature of Work:

The Safety & Security Internship provides an opportunity to learn about the planning, execution and implementation of safety and security processes at all KSE Colorado facilities. Interns will participate in the day-to-day operations of the Safety & Security Departments, assist with various event night responsibilities, employee safety training, and help with new safety & security initiatives. The position will have various responsibilities within Event Safety, Health & Safety, and 24-Hour Security departments. The safety & security intern should have strong communication, organization and time management skills, possess a desire to learn about safety, security, event management, and be available some nights and weekends.

 

Examples of work performed:

  • Advises event operations regarding safe practices and procedures for events at all KSE venues.
  • Inspects venues for existing or potential hazards; determines corrective/preventative action; follows up to ensure employee and patron safety.
  • Responds to a variety of incidents including, but not limited to, illness, injury, violence, safety hazards, etc.; obtains and documents incident statements and other information from individuals; writes detailed incident reports; enters report data into computer database program. Electronically maintain files, records, and logs for historical data.
  • Prepares studies and analysis of incident causes and hazards for use by company and outside agencies; maintains safety files and records.
  • Assists with emergency response training and implementation of emergency procedures for all KSE venues.
  • Coordinates and tracks employee safety orientations.
  • Assists with coordination of SDS binders and hazard communication programs. 
  • Conduct safety audits and accident investigations with Safety Managers.
  • Assist in creation of job hazard analysis. 
  • Assists with patrols for Ball Arena Campus, Paramount Theatre and Warehouse; reports all safety and/or security concerns to appropriate personnel.   
  • Provides initial investigation with documentation and provides follow-up on security incidents including, but not limited to, building damage, injury to patron or employee, criminal activity and policy/procedure violations.   
  • Provides customer service to guests and employees of facility.   
  • Participates in internal and external training programs for regular and part-time employees.    
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to work non-traditional hours including nights, weekends and holidays

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum
    1. High School diploma or GED
    2. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
  • Preferred
    1. Ability to acquire or produce and maintain a valid driver’s license and meet company vehicle driving standards.

  • All Colorado Interns are required to attend all KSE Internship Program hosted events that occur during business hours. If unable to attend due to work, school or unforeseen circumstance, the Intern must inform the Internship Program Committee via the RSVP form provided via email.
  • All Interns are required to participate in the KSE Mentorship Program by meeting with assigned Mentor in person or virtually at least for the initial meet-up.

 

Compensation:

  • Base hourly $18.29 per hour
