Nature Of Work

The Colorado Rapids Soccer Club based in Commerce City, CO is leading professional sport in its safeguarding efforts. We believe in the importance of safeguarding all club stakeholders from abuse, harassment, and other types of misconduct and are dedicated to providing educational opportunities to individuals who share our passion for safe sport.

We are seeking motivated college students, graduate students, or early career professionals to join our Safe Sport internship program. This seven-month internship offers participants the opportunity to gain valuable experience with a variety of elements related to safeguarding athletes at a professional sport organization. Upon completion of the program, participants will have the requisite knowledge and experience to contribute effectively to a safeguarding team in an entry-level role.
 
 
Examples Of Work Performed
  • Attend daily mandatory team meeting/training session focused on safe sport, including but not limited to building and evaluating safe sport policy, understanding the legal basis for safe sport in the United States, case management, evaluating risk, and building education programs
  • Assist in implementing and monitoring safe sport policy adherence throughout the organization
  • Complete a minimum of two self-directed safe sport projects
  • Other sport governance and compliance duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • The ideal candidate is currently enrolled in college or graduate school, or early in their professional career
  • Candidates must demonstrate interest in athlete safety, child protection, social work, or related fields in their cover letter
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Please note: This position cannot work more than 29 hours per week.
  • All Colorado Interns are required to attend all KSE Internship Program hosted events that occur during business hours. If unable to attend due to work, school or unforeseen circumstance, the Intern must inform the Internship Program Committee.
  • All Interns are required to participate in the KSE Mentorship Program by meeting with assigned Mentor in person or virtually.

Compensation
Base hourly rate $18.81 per hour
