Colorado Avalanche Amateur Hockey Development Department:

The Colorado Avalanche Amateur Hockey Development Department (AHD) partners with the Colorado Amateur Hockey Association (CAHA) and other local organizations each season in an effort to grow the game of hockey throughout the state of Colorado and surrounding region.  By acting as a faithful resource to the local hockey community, the mission of the AHD department is to welcome and create a love for the game at all levels, for all groups of people to support growth and development. 

 

Nature of Work:

The primary duty of the Program Coordinator position is to assist in planning and execution of Amateur Hockey Development programs on an annual basis, ensuring they meet and/or exceed participation and revenue goals.  

 

Examples of work performed:

  • Assist the Program Managers in all AHD initiatives and events as necessary.
  • Maintain and increase relationships with amateur hockey association Directors and Presidents to ensure all programs are designed and executed to meet the hockey community’s needs.  
  • Promote and drive the growth and development of the Colorado Hockey community with the execution and creation of programming. 
  • Maintain and increase all AHD program operational standards and execute each event to meet the hockey community’s needs.  
  • Maximizes customer satisfaction, attendance, and participation in all programs.
  • Actively represents and operates AHD events, including Avalanche home games, grow the game initiatives, statewide programming and all Ball Arena events.
  • Game night responsibilities include assisting with “Mini Avs” elements and additional youth and adult hockey initiatives.
  • Operate ice and ball hockey programming within the hockey community statewide, including schools, recreation centers and rinks.

Qualifications

  • Minimum
    1. BS/BA degree in field or related field 
    2. High School or GED
    3. 2+ years’ experience in field
    4. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
  • Preferred
    1. Certification or additional degree
    2. USA Hockey Coaching Certified Minimum Level I

  • Ability to Ice Skate
  • Strong knowledge of youth hockey operations, development, and structure
  • Ability to run, plan and execute on and off ice hockey programming
  • Ability to maintain positive attitude and demonstrate professionalism
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Ability to complete work accurately and in a timely manner
  • Ability to work independently & in a group setting and demonstrate good judgment skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and adapt to changing environments

 

Compensation

  • Hourly rate of $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
  • Eligible for annual discretionary bonus
