Nature of Work:
This position will utilize a mature and robust infrastructure to process network channel content using multiple systems to determine start and end of segment times, video and audio quality, and adherence to technical specifications. The On-Call Ingest Operator will ensure proper routing of live signal source and backup record. Ensure proper closed captioning and metadata in both a live and file-based workflow.  This position is considered on-call, there is no set schedule or guaranteed number of hours to work each pay period.  It is similar to a part time position.
 
Examples of work performed:
  • Prep content using internal systems for SOM/EOM and segmentation data for accurate playout through automation
  • Confirm and validate accurate closed captioning
  • Transcode assets to conform to various delivery specifications
  • Facilitate closed captioning for pre-produced programs and live events
  • Communicate constructively with fellow co-workers to ensure tasking success
  • Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands:
  • General office equipment to include phone, fax, computer/keyboard, copier, etc.
  • Candidate may be required to work remotely.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays. Flexibility to alter shifts/days to accommodate projects and departmental objectives. 
 
Qualifications
  • Minimum
    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
  • Preferred
    • BA/BS in Communications, Computer Science or similar
    • 2-4 years Television experience at a regional or national network.
 
Competencies/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Operational knowledge of network broadcast playout equipment and technologies
  • Experience with production switchers, routers, VTR’s, server based ingest/recording and playout
  • Networking, asset management skills, Windows, Mac, and Office experience
  • Solid understanding of computer systems, principles, network security, storage management and policy, data entry to an asset management system
  • Knowledge of automation systems related to network broadcast operations
  • Knowledge of file delivery protocols and systems
  • Ability to communicate clearly, accurately, and concisely both written and verbally 
  • Ability to troubleshoot, make rapid decisions, and execute resolutions quickly in dynamic situations
  • Attention to detail in support of back-end traffic and asset management systems.
 
Compensation
  • Base hourly wage $21 per hour
