Nature of Work:
The Director of Security will report directly to the Executive Director of Safety & Security. The Director of Security plans, directs, analyzes, evaluates and supervises activities relating to the protection, safeguarding, and security of employees, vendor partners, visitors, company assets, and KSE property locations.  The Director of Security implements, monitors, and ensures compliance with all security policies, procedures, and programs.  This individual is responsible for the operations of the Security Department as well as developing, implementing and directing security programs for the organization including managing the physical security issues for Dick’s Sporting Goods Park and for all staff working within that facility.
 
Examples of work performed:
  • Leads and directs security staff in multiple security core disciplines to: identify potential or existing security risks to the overall organization; research and deploy state of the art technology solutions and innovative security management techniques to safeguard staff and company assets; direct the approach, implementation, and execution of investigations and appropriate corrective actions.
  • Provides expert advice and technical expertise to department heads and upper management including input into security standard operating procedures.
  • Tracks the capital and expense budget for the department.
  • Demonstrates close relationships with local law enforcement, intelligence, and private sector counterparts.
  • Demonstrates close relationships with other operations managers and vendor partners to ensure cohesive working relationships.
  • Provides oversight for security operations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Provides oversight for the security operations during events.
  • Directs department response to emergency situations; ensures that staff members carry out duties as assigned; ensures Emergency Response Plans are implemented and followed, communicates with emergency services personnel, both internally and externally, before, during and after emergencies.
  • Briefs senior management on status of security issues and operations as it pertains to events and represents organization in senior level.
  • Communicates with Major League Soccer officials; ensures compliance with security mandates.
  • Communicates with Team representatives, MLS delegates and ensures compliance with security mandates set forth by the league.
  • Makes decisions on administrative or operational matters and ensures the department’s effective achievement of goals.
  • Identifies potential or existing event-based security risks to the overall organization and presents those risks for resolution.
  • Identifies and implements training on a corporate level relevant to emergency procedures and security practices
  • Provide support to the team academy, to include an onsite after school program.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of ownership, executives, other departments, and vendor partners.
  • Manages through subordinate managers to include full-time and part-time security team members.   
  • Assists in creating and implementing departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions highly preferred. 
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director, Safety & Security.
 
  • Capable of sitting, standing stationary or walking for up to 8 hours per shift with some bending, stooping and stretching.
  • Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity enough to handle paperwork and mail, and to operate a keyboard, telephone, mobile device, handheld metal detector wand, flashlight, two-way radio, and other office equipment.
  • Occasionally lifting items weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to hear a phone, a two-way radio, audible alarms and verbal communications in a moderate to loud environment.
  • Tolerance for moderate to loud event noises.
  • Working outside in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, rain) from time to time.
  • Comfortability being near heavy vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
  • Working conditions and physical demands listed are not all inclusive and subject to change.
 
 
 
Qualifications:
  • Minimum
    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Minimum of one year of management experience, preferably in a large venue or sports facility. 
    • Knowledge of surveillance and access control platforms and technology
    • Knowledge of security screening technology
    • Valid Colorado Driver’s License  
    • Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
  • Preferred
    • Bachelor’s degree in a related security field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills may be acquired.
    • Two to five years’ experience in a venue security setting.
    • CPR / AED certification.
    • ICS 100 and 700 training certifications.
 
 
Competencies/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Experience in special event security and public assembly venue security highly desirable.
  • Ability to work a varied schedule to include evenings/nights, weekends and holidays as necessary.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, orally and in writing, with customers, visitors and other employees at all levels.  
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret written and verbal instructions and reports.  
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of Ownership, Executives, other departments, and vendor partners.
  • Ability to exercise proper action and attitude in handling incidents and demands of the entertainment environment.   
  • Considerable knowledge of interpersonal relationships unique to the service industry. 
  • Works well with others; establishing and maintaining effective relationships with fellow coworkers and supervisors.  
  • Presents a clean, neat professional appearance.  
  • Knowledge of general security functions and venue facility operations highly preferred.   
  • Knowledge of CCTV and Access control systems.    
  • Ability to acquire or produce and maintain a Valid Colorado Driver’s license and meet company vehicle driving standards
 
Compensation:
  • Base salary range $70,000 - $80,000 per annum
