Position Summary

The Avalanche Ice Patrol is a co-ed group who maintain the playing surface at Ball Arena per the polices and standards of the National Hockey League while also representing the Avalanche brand and the sport of hockey with integrity and enthusiasm.

Nature of Work:

This is a seasonal position with employment concluding at the end of the 2024-2025 Colorado Avalanche

Essential Functions/Responsibilities 

  • Expected to hockey or figure skate at a high level to perform shoveling duties in a specific pattern with 8-12 team members during Avalanche home games. Job is regulated by the NHL and mandated that members shovel snow from the ice so that the players are safe.
  • Represent the Avalanche at games, events and appearances as brand ambassadors throughout the Denver and surrounding areas to the highest standard set by the Avalanche organization and management.
  • This group of individuals will also support the Avalanche in the following areas: amateur hockey, community relations, marketing events and partnership’s year-round initiatives.
  • Knowledge of the Avalanche team, its history and Ice Patrol brand vital to the success as a member of the Ice Patrol organization.
  • Must be comfortable taking pictures, signing autographs and mingling with fans of all ages along with performing hands on duties such as helping with registrations and event set up, playing street and ice hockey, cheering on activity participants and coaching learn to skate classes.

 

Performance Requirements/Skills

  • Ability to skate at a high level.
  • Willingness to take direction from several supervisors and adhere to all company and program policies and procedures
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Comfortable working in front of large crowds.
  • Must be personable, enthusiastic and very outgoing.
  • Must be able to work 90% of Avalanche home games for the 2024-25 seasons and mandatory team appearances as needed.
  • Must own and maintain your own ice skates for the season.
  • Working off-site appearances on behalf of the Colorado Avalanche, as assigned.
  • Knowledge of the Avalanche team, its history and Ice Patrol brand vital to the success as a member of the Ice Patrol organization.
  • Ability to interact professionally with Ball Arena, KSE and Avalanche staff and high-level executives is a must.

 

Education/Experience

  • High school degree or GED, required.
  • Must be 18 years or older.

 

Compensation

  • $18.29 per hour for games and CR events, $50/hour for appearances
