Nature of Work:

The Sustainability Intern is going to primarily focus on assisting KSE in furthering our sustainability efforts by assisting in data analysis, benchmarking building performance, and green building certification, as well waste and water management initiatives. The chosen candidate will also assist with auditing project design and implementation of construction and building modernization projects. 

 

Examples of work performed:

  • Merging, analyzing, and summarizing data for internal reporting.
  • Assist team leaders with building performance analysis  and green building certifications.
  • Support decarbonization projects and assist with assessments and prioritization of other opportunities related to energy conservation and lowering greenhouse gas emissions. 
  • Support the development of sustainability documents and records.
  • Help research and analyze potential initiatives and technologies to identify opportunities for improvement. 
  • Assist with monitoring the progress of sustainability projects and reporting on results.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands:

  • Stand and talk or hear up to 1/3 of time.
  • Sit and reach with hands and arms up to 2/3 of time.
  • Talk or hear, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, 2/3 or more of time.
  • Lift up to 10 lbs. up to 1/3 of time.
  • Moderate to very loud noise.
  • Clear vision at 20” and ability to adjust focus.

 

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree; preferably with a focus in sustainability, decarbonization, green building, or communications.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office, PowerPoint, Excel (ability to manipulate spreadsheets).
  • Strong analytic skills.

 

 

Competencies/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Quick learner in pulling data and reports from different management information systems. 
  • Communicate with internal and external entities.
  • Individual must be an energetic self-starter and team player.
  • Ability to work independently and interact well with all levels of the organization.
  • Work at the Denver office in person most of the time.
  • All Colorado Interns are required to attend all KSE Internship Program hosted events that occur during business hours. If unable to attend due to work, school or unforeseen circumstance, the Intern must inform the Internship Program Committee via the RSVP form provided via email..
  • All Interns are required to participate in the KSE Mentorship Program by meeting with assigned Mentor in person or virtually at least for the initial meet-up.
  • Ability to acquire or produce and maintain a Valid Colorado Driver’s license and meet company vehicle driving standards

 

Compensation:

  • Base hourly range $18.29 per hour
