SkyCam® is a leading designer, manufacturer, and operator of mobile aerial cameras systems.  SkyCam® plays a significant role in changing the way live sporting events are broadcast.
 
Nature of Work:
The Systems Engineer/Electrical Engineer will work on various engineering projects including assisting in all areas of technical support, design, maintenance, and operations of SkyCam systems both in house and in the field.
 
Examples of work performed:
  • Assist in all facets of system and event delivery, project management, scheduling, design, onsite field setup, correct deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation for field deployed robotic camera system for live events and productions
  • In an environment focused on “Live Event” production, troubleshoot, resolve, and document remote live event technical needs.
  • Identify, design, and when tasked, build a better mousetrap to alleviate field issues, and repetitive problems.
  • Maintain, diagnose, and repair all issues with equipment.
  • Direct lead and instruct field in proper use of field equipment, setup, tear down, and troubleshooting.
  • Design and update equipment as needed.
  • Prepare and update technical manuals, troubleshooting guides, and operating manuals.
  • Manage technical group to deliver on-time maintenance schedules, new designs, and refurbishments
  • Other duties as assigned.

Material and Equipment Used:
  • Software suites (Eagle, LabVIEW, Eagle, PRO/E, Solid Works, AutoCAD).
  • Computer languages, supporting several microcontroller languages including PLC, Ladder, .NET, C++, function block, Arduino/Pi, and other microprocessor controls.
  • Communications systems (Hardware and Software) including RS232,422,485, TCP/IP, UDP, Fiber Optic, Copper, and RF.
  • Bench and field test equipment including Multi-meter, signal analyzer, video, and Audio Equipment.
  • Video & audio test equipment and encoding equipment.
 
 
Working Conditions & Physical Demands:
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays is a must
  • Prior experience in live-event, field technical operations a plus
  • Potential for 40% travel.
  • Work in high stress environment.
  • Lift up to 25 lbs. up to 1/3 of time.
  • Valid Driver’s license is required
  • US Passport is required
  • Moderate to very loud noise at times
  • Ability to solve real-world problems with creative timely solutions
 
Qualifications
  • Minimum
    • Bachelor’s Degree in EE, CE, ME, IE, or similar from ABET accredited college degree required. 
    • 3 years’ experience in engineering, field engineering, or engineering for management role.
    • Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
  • Preferred
  • Master’s degree in Engineering may substitute for experience.
 
Competencies/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Industrial, PLC, HMI and servo motor controls systems, computer and electronic communications systems, optical communications systems (fiber) and electrical networks (TCP/IP/ UDP, serial)
  • Excellent working knowledge of the principles, terminology, tools, and equipment utilized in television production/broadcast engineering.
  • Excellent understanding of electrical theory
  • Self-Starter- ability to work and manage multiple projects and differing timelines simultaneously
  • Ability to work in of short-term delivery windows and tight turnarounds, including nights weekends and Holidays.
  • Where there is a will there is a way attitude
  • Understanding of broadcast engineering in the context of television network operations.
  • Understanding of automation and control systems, pan/tilt, and gimbaled systems,
  • Ability to perform both small scale in-house and board-house circuit design.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, appropriately, and concisely in dynamic and stressful situations.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, make quick decisions, and execute resolutions quickly in dynamic situations.
