Altitude Sports is the official television network of the Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche, Colorado Mammoth, and Colorado Rapids. Altitude Sports also broadcasts University of Denver sports, the University of Colorado Buffalo Stampede weekly show, CHSAA High School Football Game of the Week as well as other local and regional sports, entertainment, and public service programming.
 
Stadium Studios deals specifically with video and motion graphic production for Ball Arena and Dick's Sporting Goods Park. Stadium Studios ensures that the proper content is broadcast on video & LED boards throughout the KSE Venues.
 
Nature of Work:
The Colorado Avalanche Director reports to the Executive Producer of Stadium Studios, and this position oversees the creative and technical planning of all Avalanche home games for the arena. Champion creative vision developed by Executive Producer and Avalanche Marketing.
 
This position will require the management of freelance staff and provide constructive feedback for the betterment of in-arena productions. This position will manage and oversee the control room staff as well as train and oversee the development of freelance personnel. This position will also be responsible for researching new technologies, communication with broadcast engineers, maintaining a relationship with Altitude Producers and Avalanche Game Presentation, productivity and efficiency improvement, and effective communication and collaboration with all KSE stakeholders. Duties as assigned include directing Colorado Rapids, Colorado Mammoth, and other events as needed.
 
Examples of work performed:
  • Directs all Colorado Avalanche home games for the in-arena show.
  • Must have a well-rounded knowledge of all equipment in the facility and its capability, as well as strong broadcast knowledge.
  • Test videos and elements with Technical Director to ensure all, team open videos, replays, switcher elements, and all equipment is ready to go prior to game/event.
  • Liaison with outside clients, when necessary, such as NCAA, US Soccer, and other entities. As well as other specialized projects.
  • Game night crew shift supervisor. Check in with OCE crew to make sure all are present and on time.
  • Works closely with Marketing, Game Presentation, and Partnership Marking on implementing new videos and activations.
  • Ensuring that we meet all standards set by the Executive Producer, Marketing, and NHL.
  • Assist EP with crewing, invoicing, and other control room managerial work.
  • Creative driving force in our Broadcast Control Room.
  • Assists EP with production design, structure control room, and control room equipment.

Qualifications
  • Minimum
    • BA/BS degree or combination of experience, education & certification equivalent to a degree
    • 5+ years' experience in a broadcast or similar technical environment to include audio, video and other media or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hiring.
  • Preferred
    • Broadcast production experience in Sports & Entertainment
    • Experience with Ross Xpression
    • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite & Office 365
    • Experience leading a team, motivating coworkers
    • Experience working with multiple departments across an organization
Competencies/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of the NHL and the game of Hockey.
  • Proficiency in all phases of video production.
  • Knowledge Ross Xpression operation.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, and Office 365
  • Knowledge of Video Codecs & use within a broadcast environment
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.

Compensation
  • Base Wage Range: $38.46 per hour
  • Eligible for annual discretionary bonus
