Nature of Work:
Responsible for the implementation and monitoring of a full athletic performance program for the Rapids 2 players.
Examples of work performed:
- Collaborate with technical staff to create and implement a periodization model throughout each phase of the season, including daily, weekly, and monthly plans (microcycles – macrocycles) both in the weight room and on the field.
- Gather data provided by GPS or other available modes and provide coaching staff with data points to guide tactical periodization, drill and session design.
- Utilize longitudinal load tracking tools to maximize individual player performance (e.g., Training to Competition Load Ratio, Acute to Chronic Workload Ratio, etc.).
- Serve as a resource for coaching staff.
- Collaborate with R2 Athletic Trainer, Sport Scientist, and Club Dietician using an interdisciplinary approach to player performance, development, and care.
- Perform Daily Warm Up/Cool down routines for both training and matches.
- Perform Activation/Recovery sessions (home and away).
- Implement an Athlete Education Program, including but not limited to recovery, nutrition, strength training, injury prevention, and anything else pertinent to achieving peak performance.
- Provide individualized Return to Play (RTP) Plan following the Rapids RTP Process under 1st Team Staff guidance that allow each athlete to progress safely back to full training/match play.
- Create an individualized athlete profile consisting of data gathered from GPS, weight room activities, on field performance (games), and testing results (FMS, 1RMs etc.).
- Collaborate with Director of Player Performance & Senior Director of Sport & Data Science to monitor and manage training loads for High Potential Players participating across various teams.
- Provide at home training programs for those not traveling, injured, or during cancelled session (due to weather), including offseason training programs.
- Create and distribute required reports for US Soccer and other national teams, as required.
- Travel as required.
- Assist the Rapids 2 General Manager/Director of Player Personnel and Technical Director with any other duties as assigned, including player movement from Academy to R2 and R2 to First Team.
- Prioritize continuing education and individual development as directed by supervisor and club.
- Support Performance Department Internship Program as needed.

Qualifications
- Work Experience
- A minimum of (3) years combined full-time experience at the professional level OR full-time experience at the MLS Next, MLS Next Pro, or NCAA Division 1 level as a strength & conditioning coach/performance coach.
- Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Strength & Conditioning, Sport Science, or a related field.
- Must be an NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)
- First Aid/CPR certification required.
- Extensive experience using STATSports with the ability to efficiently analyze, interpret, and visualize internal/external loads for technical staff and front office to make data informed decisions.
- Experience and knowledge in building out individual player profiles, establishing benchmarks to compare against daily readiness, including movement screens, VALD (ForceDecks, ForceFrame, Nordboard, and SmartSpeed gates), and other performance testing.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Microsoft Teams.
- Preferred
- Master’s degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Strength & Conditioning, Sport Science, or a related field.
- EXOS Performance Specialist, NASM Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES), NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES), USSF C License, NSCA CPSS
- Experience and knowledge of Athlete Management Systems, preferably Teamworks AMS, and experience using Bridge Athletic.
- High level of playing experience is preferred (College and/or Professional)

- Ability to acquire or produce and maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license and meet company vehicle driving standards.
Compensation
- Base Salary Range $60,000 - $65,000 per annum
