Nature of Work:
Provide expert level coaching for Rapids Academy players & teams.  Coaching staff will play an active role in supporting & developing the club’s player development programs within the guidelines established by the Colorado Rapids, Major League Soccer and US Soccer. 
 
Examples of work performed:
  • Coach assigned team(s) within the Colorado Rapids Academy. 
  • Work under the direction of the Academy Program Director in recruitment, tryouts, selection, training, evaluation and retention of Academy players.
  • Implementation of the Academy’s curriculum with assigned team using club’s philosophy and methodology.
  • Video analysis of all Academy games – collective & individual feedback.
  • Video analysis of opposition for delivery of scouting report & game preparation.
  • Establish & maintain player development players for assigned players.
  • Track player attendance & competition minutes.
  • Proactively manage players & address questions & concerns.
  • Complete US Soccer and MLS paperwork as required.
  • Travel as required
  • Assist the EVP/General Manager and Director of Soccer Development with any other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands:
  • Stand and walk 1/3 to 2/3 of time.

  • Use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl up to 1/3 of time.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. up to 1/3 of time.
  • Moderate to loud noise.
  • Outdoor weather conditions 1/3 to 2/3 of time.
  • Clear vision at 20”, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • General office equipment including copier, fax, phone, computer/keyboard, etc.
  • Company vehicles.
 
Qualifications
  • Minimum
    • US Soccer “B” License or equivalent combination of coaching and playing experience.   
  • Preferred
    • US Soccer “A” License preferred.
    • Professional playing experience preferred.
 
Competencies/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to teach techniques, tactics, physical and psychological components of soccer.
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire, motivate and educate youth players and youth coaching staff
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organizational and personnel management.
  • Knowledge regarding player development.
  • Knowledge of MLS Homegrown Player requirements.
  • Ability to create spreadsheets and routine business correspondence using Word and Excel software.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and multi-task effectively.
  • Knowledge of professional sports team operations, public relations, and/or sponsor relations is preferred. 
  • Ability to acquire or produce and maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license and meet company vehicle driving standards.
 
Compensation
  • Base Salary Range $65,000-$75,000 per annum
