Position Summary – As part of the Rapids Digital department, the Digital Content & Strategy Manager will develop and maintain a large portion of the group’s overall day-to-day planning, scheduling & tracking key performance indicators. This position will act as an important connection for different stakeholders within the Digital department but also in communicating across the front office with project leads in Marketing and Communications, among others. In addition, this position will be tasked with generating engaging content using copywriting and design skills in collaboration with in-house videographers, photographers, graphic designers and social media staff. This position will be heavily involved in general project execution and sponsored activations in the digital space.  
Essential Functions/Responsibilities -    
  • Editor and Chief of, generating content strategy & providing 24/7 editorial management of the website & MLS App
  • Identify unique opportunities for website promotion, working regularly with Video and Social on engaging digital concepts
  • Create comprehensive, organized content plans for games and key upcoming events
  • Produce, edit, fact check and publish engaging content to Rapids digital channels, with a focus on written content
  • Make regular updates and recommendations based on performance data
  • Manage the Digital Content Coordinator, providing oversight on editorial concepts and  working with them to build, amplify and maintain custom landing pages
  • Maintain strong interdepartmental relationships across with front office & external partners
  • Strategically drive digital commerce through retail and ticket sales
  • Provide documents and recommendations on trending topics, products and best practices
  • Conduct project-based and monthly recaps by tracking performance and identifying trends
  • Serve as the primary digital liaison between the club and MLS
Performance Requirements/Skills –  
  • Strong time management skills, understanding of creative workflow and digital trends
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple project timelines simultaneously
  • Ability to meet deadlines and communicate deliveries to different parties
  • Comfortable working across departments with differing objectives – broadcast, media, marketing, community, sponsorship, PR, and soccer operations
  • Knowledge of web traffic reporting & analytics (e.g. Google Analytics, SocialBakers)
  • Experience using content management systems 
  • Manage partnerships with brands, teams, and external clients as it pertains to site/mobile app
  • Craft long and short-term strategy of, MLS App
  • Actively follow new technology trends and apply to digital strategy where appropriate
  • Communicate effectively through written copy – both internally and externally
  • Strong attention to detail and proof-reading skills 
  • Quickly and clearly organize thoughts and projects and present them as needed
  • Pitch content concepts and execution plans for video, written and social activations
  • Passion for content creation, storytelling, brand building and trends of consumers
  • Availability to work long and/or irregular hours, including weekends and holidays, travel as needed
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Mac/​PC software, and web/​new media technology
  • Basic Photoshop, InDesign, photography and social media skills
  • Strong knowledge of rules, culture and terminology of MLS and American soccer
  • General photography and video equipment
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations or related field, required.  
  • Minimum 2-4 years professional experience within professional or college sports field. 
Based on qualifications and experience. 
  • Base Salary Range $55,000 - $60,000

Working Conditions & Physical Demands – 
Normal office environment. Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching.  Occasionally lifting files or paper weighing up to 50 pounds.  Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity enough to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment.  Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports.  Requires mobility enough to travel.
