Job Summary:

The Social Media Coordinator will be an integral member of the IS+E Social and Brand Marketing Team primarily supporting Detroit SportsNet (DSN). This role will report directly to the Directors of Social Media for the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Red Wings and work in close collaboration with the Manager of Broadcast.

The Social Media Coordinator will support the day to day strategy, content creation, and execution for all DSN social channels. This includes managing live game and event coverage, monitoring online conversations, fulfilling partnership and sponsorship-related social obligations, maintaining the content calendar, and driving channel growth across platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the daily operation and posting of all Detroit SportsNet owned social media channels on a daily basis, including but not limited to Instagram, X, Facebook.

  • Maintain and update the monthly social posting calendar, ensuring delivery of high quality, original content aligned with strategic objectives.

  • Work closely with the Manager of Broadcast and the content team to plan, request, track, and traffic graphics, video, and photo assets for use across DSN platforms.

  • Provide live coverage for Detroit Tigers and Detroit Red Wings game broadcasts and additional organizational events.

  • Contribute ideas, produce, and publish content tailored for each DSN social platform.

  • Fulfill partnership and sponsorship-related social media obligations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and high-quality execution.

  • Support the growth and engagement of all DSN social channels, identifying new opportunities to expand audience reach and platform performance.

  • Collaborate with the Tigers and Red Wings social teams to identify cross platform opportunities and maintain consistent brand storytelling.

  • Work with broadcast talent to create and capture behind the scenes content.

  • Monitor social channels through active listening to engage fans, moderate conversations, and identify real time opportunities.

  • Use analytics tools to track performance, optimize content strategy, and deliver weekly and monthly reporting.

  • Partner with internal departments, including Partnerships, Ticketing, Retail, and Special Events—to support broader campaign objectives through social.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.

  • One (1) year of experience in social media.

  • High proficiency in Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, other emerging platforms.

  • Healthy interest in data-driven decision-making and understanding of social media analytics.

  • Proficiency in photo editing and fundamental design tasks in Photoshop.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

  • Keen editorial eye.

  • Creative, energetic, and proactive approach to work.

  • Strong relationship building skills.

  • Innovative and proactive thinker, with an ability to work under quick turnaround times, across multiple projects.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills – can interact well with all organizational levels internally and externally.

  • Flexibility and willingness to work extended hours, evenings, and weekends. Game day duties required.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Previous experience working in the sports and entertainment industry.

  • Experience with Adobe Premier is preferred.

  • Video shooting and/or editing a plus.

Working Conditions:

  • This job operates in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.  The noise level is usually moderate but can be loud within the stadium environment.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee occasionally is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This is a largely sedentary role. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and focused vision.

  • Some travel may be expected in this role.
