JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented FP&A Financial Analyst to support the Ilitch Sports + Entertainment accounting team. The successful candidate will be responsible for financial planning, analysis, and reporting to support business decision-making processes. This role will work closely with the accounting team to ensure financial data is accurately recorded and reported.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure timely and accurate financial data is recorded in the general ledger
  • Support preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, including balance sheets,  income statements, and cash flow statements
  • Analyze and explain variances between actual results and budget/forecasted amounts, identifying trends and drivers of performance
  • Develop financial models and forecasts to support business planning and decision-making processes
  • Support the budget creation process by assisting with the development of budget templates, analyzing historical data, and preparing budget-to-actual reports
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to senior management
  • Prepare ad-hoc financial analysis and reports as required by management
  • Participate in the monthly close process, ensuring all month-end materials are accurate and completed on time
  • Help maintain the integrity of the financial reporting process by identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in financial analysis, with a strong focus on accounting
  • Strong analytical skills with experience creating financial models and analyzing large data sets
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and data integrity
  • Experience with financial reporting and analysis tools such as Excel, Oracle, and Hyperion
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities and deadlines
