Job Summary:

The Director, Premium Sales is a key member of the Ilitch Sports + Entertainment leadership team and is responsible for overseeing organizational B2B sales efforts focused towards selling new premium inventory at Comerica Park, Little Caesars Arena and other IS+E venues as needed. In addition to leading a team of premium sellers, this role will be expected to assist with building strategy and campaigns to maximize revenue for premium leases, premium rentals, and club seats. The Director is responsible for overall department goals, budget, and staff development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage, mentor, and motivate the premium sales staff day-to-day while training & developing their skillsets.
  • Assist the Senior Director, Premium & Corporate Sales with preparing and monitoring premium department expense budget.
  • Build dynamic sales campaigns to drive revenue and ultimately meet or exceed overall premium sales goals.
  • Implement consistent sales trainings and professional development programs to enhance product knowledge and improve consultative selling skills.
  • Serve as interface with ticket sales and sponsorship/ad sales to generate leads and maximize revenue potential for cross promotional campaigns.
  • Provide written weekly and monthly reports on premium sales activity and results to track individual/team performance, inventory, and revenue.
  • Coordinate with the CRM & Business Analytics teams to ensure client information is current and updated within the database and cultivate premium leads for the team.
  • Actively lead premium sales efforts with other departments (inside sales, groups, new business, service, etc.) and help identify high-value clients & prospects throughout the organization.
  • Attend industry related networking functions as necessary.
  • Assist with pricing for all premium lease & rental products.
  • Spearhead relationships with premium vendors of business tools that help drive the business forward. 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Previous leadership experience with an emphasis on B2B sales.    
  • Possess the highest integrity and ethical standards.
  • Assertive, competitive, passionate, goal orientated and a strong work ethic.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities, develop account strategies, and negotiate creative solutions.
  • Proven track record achieving ambitious goals and closing multi-year, six & seven figure deals.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Self-starter with ability to multitask and maintain deadlines in a high-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated communication and presentation skills, with an ability to think and react to situations confidently.
  • Ability to work long or unpredictable hours on weekdays, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Must possess knowledge of all Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience in Premium Sales within the sports industry preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Irregular and extended hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Exposure to high noise level.
  • Frequent visual/auditory attention.
  • Working in an arena environment with varying temperatures.
  • Lifting equipment that weighs up to 25 pounds.
