Job Summary:

The corporate partnership activation coordinator is responsible for assisting the team in delivering the highest level of service to all of our partners. The activation coordinator will assist in the successful and timely implementation of contractual elements pertaining to sports and entertainment partners. This position is responsible for managing the execution of sponsorships, game-day activations, special events, recapping partnerships, calculating overall value of partnerships, and reporting results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist activation manager with delivering superior Activation: coordinate/execute all partnership elements/assets for each assigned partner. This includes but is not limited to (1) game-day activation and events and promotions, including but not limited to clinics, tournaments, player appearances, special promotions, and sweepstakes execution, and (3) partner-related hospitality activities. May require local travel and nontraditional hours.
  • Manage assigned Corporate Partnership accounts on a day-to-day basis.
  • Provide support to sales executives including the creation and maintenance of spreadsheets, contacting clients, etc.
  • Assist Corporate Partnership department projects, including, but not limited to pre-season action plans, post- season recaps, department events, premium item coordination, tracking social media promotions, trafficking radio, TV and spots/ads, trafficking partner print ads, organizing game day and event photos.
  • Manage and track all costs/expenses associated with each assigned account. Build and maintain budgets for all special events.
  • Manage activation of hospitality and uphold a strong relationship with SportService (sports and entertainment concessionaire), Communicate and process orders, manage billing.
  • Plan and execute on-site and off-site client hospitality/activations/promotions (all event-based activities).
  • Responsible for coordination and set up of game-day partnership elements, which include:
  • Support operations necessary to execute partner activation plans.
  • Research activation concepts for partners as needed.
  • Regularly prepare Research/Market Awareness to keep up to date with current partner news
  • Maintain a high standard of integrity during the sales and service process with each Corporate Partner or potential Corporate Partner.
  • Point of Contact for all activations taking place on the concourse and around the perimeter of all Sports & Entertainment venues: Correspond with company Parking Service, Operations, and Promotions regarding activations; Meet and greet corporate partners participating in pre-game/event activities, suite hospitality events, party suites, or picnics; Manage and assist in-game promotions as needed (Mascot Race, T-Shirt Launch, asset photography).
  • Learn and utilize Demographic Tools and Media Valuation Tools as necessary and requested.
  • Owns: Contractual autographed merchandise inventory & process each season, Proof of Performance photo process & relationship with BIG Creative for end of season recaps, Signage approvals & relationship with LaVanway, ANC, Contractual escrow purchase process — securing tickets, processing payment and tracking of escrow purchases by partner.
  • Monthly asset reporting for: Digital signage (TigerVision/IPTV/video clusters), LED signage (In-bowl ribbons, Entrance LEDs) and Radio.
  • Supports: DED process — creative asset delivery, approvals & trafficking, EVI process — creative asset delivery, approvals, trafficking & reporting and DTI & DRW Sponsored Event Coordinators

Detroit Tigers Specific Gameday Responsibilities:

Allows for the implementation of “Coordinator on Duty” rotation — mimicking our “Manager on Duty” rotation — in which the COD will support various gameday activations including but not limited to:

  • First pitches
  • BP Viewing on-field
  • Concourse tabling (credentials, load-in, load-out)
  • Chevy Youth Baseball on-field ceremonies
  • Fantasy Batting Practice, Ceremonial First Fitches, Partner Flyaway Trips, autograph events, etc).
  • Detroit T concessionaire

Detroit Red Wing Specific Gameday Responsibilities:

Allows for the implementation of “Coordinator on Duty” rotation — mimicking our “Manager on Duty” rotation — in which the COD will support various gameday activations including but not limited to:

  • Asset Checks
  • Zamboni Rides
  • Bench Buddies
  • Concourse tabling (credentials, load-in, load-out)
  • Post Game Meet & Greets

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Sports Management, Communications, Business Administration, or related discipline.
  • Minimum (2) years related experience
    (Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work).
  • Understanding of marketing, advertising and public relations principles and the ability to think creatively and outside of the box.
  • Willingness to learn in a face paced environment.
  • Demonstrated highly developed verbal, written and presentation communication skills.
  • Evidence of organization and planning and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, under pressure with tight deadlines.
  • Previous experience in a position requiring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, Excel, Power Point, Internet or other web-based applications and databases.
  • Desired: previous experience working in the sports industry.

Working Conditions:

  • This position will work in event environment and maybe subject to varied temperatures.
  • This position will be required to work long and unpredictable hours on weekdays, weekends and holidays as needed.
