Job Summary:

The corporate partnership activation coordinator is responsible for assisting the team in delivering the highest level of service to all of our partners. The activation coordinator will assist in the successful and timely implementation of contractual elements pertaining to sports and entertainment partners. This position is responsible for managing the execution of sponsorships, game-day activations, special events, recapping partnerships, calculating overall value of partnerships, and reporting results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • This position is dedicated to assisting with the planning and execution of sponsorship events.  
  • Successful execution of each of these events fulfill contractual obligations with partners that build brand awareness, community goodwill, and consumer connection through their Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Tigers partnerships.
  • This position is vital to the success of the sponsorship team so that we can continue to customize packages with off site activations, while at the same time allowing the Activation Managers to concentrate on the totality of their accounts, ensuring that opportunities for upsell and renewals aren't missed.     Assist with the creative and concept development, planning, and execution of all Red Wings and Tigers sponsorship events. 
  • Coordinate with various (internal and external) clients to capture the vision for each event, while adding innovation and expertise to bring the vision to reality
  • Collaborate with external vendors in support of the event vision and objective
  • Aid in design, management of all operational event processes, timelines, rundowns, staffing plans, budgets, and layouts for assigned and led events
  • Manage planning, coordination, and execution of events, sees all the details and takes on the perspective of guest/fan lens in the event experience
  • Co-Lead the planning and execution of events, ensuring all aspects and intricate details are covered, and critical deadlines are met
  • Control the budget for assigned events, maintaining a thorough record of expenses and staying within the approved total figure; develop budget forecasts, manage tracking and the purchase order process, along with reconciliation
  • Co-Lead event meetings both internally and externally with client; brief executives, sports operations, and staff on event details and experiences as needed
  • Complete thorough event wrap-ups with Activation Manager with respect to the facility/venue, equipment, inventory, and other related event elements, including submission of an event debrief to document the areas of success and needed improvement
  • Work with the necessary departments on the overall setup and infrastructure of events such as security, first aid, seating, tenting, parking, access, structures, permitting, overall procedures, layouts, etc.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Sports Management, Communications, Business Administration, or related discipline.

  • Minimum (2) years related experience (Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work).

  • Understanding of marketing, advertising and public relations principles and the ability to think creatively and outside of the box.

  • Willingness to learn in a face paced environment.

  • Demonstrated highly developed verbal, written and presentation communication skills.

  • Evidence of organization and planning and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, under pressure with tight deadlines.

  • Previous experience in a position requiring accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, Excel, Power Point, Internet or other web-based applications and databases.

  • Desired: previous experience working in the sports industry.

Working Conditions:

  • This position will work in event environment and maybe subject to varied temperatures.

  • This position will be required to work long and unpredictable hours on weekdays, weekends and holidays as needed.
