Job Summary:

As the HR Compliance & Investigations Business Partner, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring our HR policies, procedures, and practices comply with all relevant regulations, laws and internal policies. You will oversee the development, implementation, and monitoring of compliance programs to mitigate risk and ensure adherence to legal requirements. In addition to managing compliance efforts, you will lead and oversee colleague investigations into allegations of misconduct, harassment, discrimination, or other violations of company policies or legal requirements. Your expertise will be instrumental in conducting thorough, impartial, and timely investigations, while also providing guidance and support to HR staff and other departments to maintain a compliant and ethical workplace environment.  The role requires a strong understanding of HR compliance, labor laws, and effective communication skills.

        

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee colleague investigations into allegations of misconduct, harassment, discrimination, or other violations of company policies or legal requirements.

  • Ensure investigations are conducted thoroughly, impartially, and in a timely manner, following established protocols and legal guidelines.

  • Interview relevant parties, gather evidence, and document findings to support the resolution of investigations.

  • Analyze investigation outcomes and recommend appropriate disciplinary actions or corrective measures as necessary.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality throughout the investigation process and ensure the protection of sensitive information.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Legal, Security, and Ethics, to address systemic issues identified through investigations and implement preventive measures.

  • Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging trends in colleague investigations and compliance management, continuously seeking opportunities for improvement.

  • Advise senior management on significant investigation outcomes and trends, recommending strategies to enhance organizational integrity and mitigate risks.

  • Develop and implement HR compliance policies and procedures in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify areas of non-compliance and develop corrective action plans.

  • Regularly audit HR processes and documentation to identify and rectify areas of non-compliance.

  • Provide training to HR staff and managers on compliance-related topics, including discrimination, harassment, wage and hour laws, and colleague relations best practices.

  • Monitor changes in laws and regulations affecting HR practices and update policies and procedures accordingly.

  • Collaborate with legal counsel to address compliance issues and respond to inquiries or complaints from regulatory agencies.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external audits related to HR compliance.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field; advanced degree or certification in HR compliance preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in HR compliance or a related role, with demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

  • Juris doctorate strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrates and upholds the highest levels of integrity, ethical conduct, and professionalism.

  • Strong understanding of HR policies and procedures and colleague relations.

  • Strong investigative and conflict resolution skills

  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.

  • Thorough understanding of dispute resolution

  • Ability to remain tactful, calm, and persuasive in controversial and/or confrontational situations.

  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex legal documents and regulatory requirements.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and integrity in all compliance-related activities.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Working Conditions:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds.
