JOB SUMMARY:

The Promotions and Special Events Coordinator will be a valuable member of the Tigers Game Presentation + Fan Experience department. The coordinator will be responsible for enhancing the gameday experience for fans and assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of special events and theme nights at Comerica Park. The role will also assist in the execution of all on-field presentations/activities, in-game features, and other gameday experiences.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of theme nights and signature special events for Detroit Tigers home games.

  • Ensure proper communication of event needs and requirements to all internal departments, partners, and vendors.

  • Collaborate internally with the Corporate Partnership Activation team to ensure contractual agreements are fulfilled and provide creative solutions for sponsor integration into special events.

  • Work closely with the Marketing department to effectively communicate activation plans for special events and theme nights to help promote through web, social media, and other digital content.

  • Assist with the organization and distribution of “Pre-Game Request Guidelines” for all departments and monitor the inventory of assets for each department, including first pitches, pre-game ceremonies, National Anthem performances, and other game-day experiences.

  • Book and coordinate entertainment groups and vendors to execute activations and theme nights.

  • Coordinate hospitality and programming details surrounding VIP’s attending games that align with theme nights and special events.

  • Execute on-field presentations, including first pitches, ceremonies, in-game features, and other fan-facing activations.

  • Oversee the Tigers National Anthem and Military Salute programs, which include booking, coordination, and execution of all participants for all 81 home games.

  • Conduct research on event trends within MLB and other professional sports and implement new ideas to enhance special events.

  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • A minimum of 3 years of related experience with a professional sports team or event management.

  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to positively engage fans, sponsors, and key stakeholders.

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and make quick decisions.

  • A strategic planner with the ability to execute at a high level to bring the plan to life.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, demonstrating the use of discretion and sound judgment.

  • High level of resourcefulness, initiative, and good judgment in setting priorities and handling multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Ability to work flexible hours including game events, nights, weekends and holidays.

  • Experience with integration of multi-branded marketing and sponsorship environment.

  • Ability to independently resolve issues and manage issues effectively.

  • Exceptional organizational skills with superior attention to detail

  • Computer skills necessary, knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel required.
